Pictures in signatures
This is more of a question than anything but, In the rules (actually, guidelines. But its followed as a rule) it says:
Quote:
|
Signatures must be limited to 4 lines. No excessive font use (like a million colors or 4 point fonts etc). Images in signatures must not be animated or exceed 4 lines. Same rules that apply to signatures apply to images.
|
How do you know if an image exceeds 4 lines? I won't go naming names, but there are some people who have some pretty big pictures in their signatures. I don't mean to be a rule Nazi or anything, I just like to keep things in order. It is kind of annoying to see a really big picture where a signature should be. So the question, how do you know when an image is over '4 lines'? Is that talking about the HTML or the actual image?
Alice
PS: I ran spell check and in the rule signatures was spelled wrong and the first 'apply' in the last sentence was missing its 'l'

I didn't mean to cause so much trouble by making my signature like this. If it pisses everyone off that much, I'll make it a spoiler or something, or maybe just make it smaller?

manda your not pissing me off! seriously! I'm just REALLY curious. I don't want to go getting mods yelling at you not at all! I'm curious. They say 4 lines for images, but how can you measure that? If i was mad I would have reported you or something. Which I can't do. You're my friend

Alrighty. I'll put it in a spoiler, anyway, because I think it is over four lines. =D

From the looks of it ... four lines of text is about the equivalent of 60 pixels in height. But that's just an estimate.

Just use your judgement. If it looks like it's about four lines, you're probably okay.

What bobo suggested is all that I do. I take into consideration some larger font sizes, measure it by what I know to be four lines (my siggy is four lines), and then go from there. I hate to be a real stickler, so if it passes by a line or so I let it slide by, unless it breaks more than just the size rule.

Thanks Selorian I'll follow by your rules then. You can lock this if you want or something... I don't need it now.

I'm a real nazi. I have a ruler on the side of my computer, and if your picture is 1 mm too large, I send you a nasty PM ... and a fax bomb.
Then I send the boys around, and not the nice one's either, the nasty ones.
Then I ... then I ... oh well, I'll think of something else later.
If you're really upset about the size of someone's signature, bring it to the attention of a staff member. Not me, I'm actually too apathetic to do anything about it, another staff member. A mean one, like Valeca or Ms Vodka ...
Not that Valeca is especially mean or anything, I'm just saying that to stir up the dragon. He's mean, though, so ... maybe you should contact him.
Just not me.
Is there a rule about how much rambling BS can be posted at once. I think I might be breaking that rule.
We should have a rule about that. A no rambling rule, only with less alliteration.
Gee, the weather's been ordinary here. Drizzling all day ...
*wanders away mumbling to himself*

I'm a rule nazi, too. Thats why i get urked about the specifics.
I freak out if someone has a signature over four lines, or if they double post. Drives me nuts. Then I look like a jerk because I'm so stingy about it.
I like order...

Oh, way to go, Talia. Poke the Dragon. Some of us have to live with him, you know. Now he's gonna huff and weeze and I'll end up with a big ball of steam right in the middle of the summer heat! Not all of us get to have winter in July!
Damn you.
