Artists Thread?
Wondering... (if it hasn't been asked yet, couldn't find it)...
What are admins thoughts on starting a thread section for artists? As writing so often goes with art/illustration, would that be something of interest in the community?
I am a serious artist as well as a novice writer and poet. When I'm not writing, I'm sketching roughs for character concepts, settings, etc. Would be more than happy to offer my meager abilities to aid others in visualizing their ideas... I need to build up the portfolio anyways.
Chances are pretty good, that in a creative community like ours, there are many other artists out there as well that would offer their support in this. A poll might be a start, unless there are reservations against it.
I just think it would be a great service, having volunteer artists within the community helping us to formulate our stories through the visual mediums. If you want an example, just give me a shot... I think I can impress.
Would love to hear feedback on the matter... if duplicated elsewhere, please PM a link and close this out, with my apologies.
Cheers,
//Sy

i don't see why a separate section need be established for that, sy... if artists want to connect with writers they can do so now, in the 'resources' section or others that may apply...
and, if they want to connect with other artists, i'm sure there are sites like this one for that purpose...
just my 2 cents... hugs, m

While it's a good idea in theory, this is quite technically a writing website, not a visual design website. Probably a better idea is to make a deviantart account, and then link through a thread of your own to each drawing.

The last thing we need around here is more artists. The smugness factor of the site would leap five fold if they had a separate section, and the pseudo-intellectual wanking would create a rift in the very fabric of the php this sight is built upon, resulting in what could be, perhaps, the internet's first tasteful nudity.

Perhaps you could start a thread in the Lounge or even in Critique and advice to serve this purpose? I doubt there would be enough to justify a separate forum section, and even if there were, this is primarily a writing forum.
I think the idea of sharing art here is a good one--sometimes it goes hand in hand with writing, and it's fun to share pictures of characters and see if there are illustrators available. Still, I think it should be brought up in the Lounge.
