Structured Debate
I would love to see a moderated, one on one debate forum, although I believe it valuable to maintain the free for all debate forums as well. I just think it would be fun to have structured debates with strict rules.

I agree and am willing to debate anyone who challenges my agreement.

Some of the debate forum regulars tried this before. See this thread for refrence:

I believe it died out because people lost interest. That being the case I can't see that a seperate forum would be created for this kind of thing. If your interested though feel free to organize something in the current Debate forum.

I don't think another Forum is anywhere neccesary. I think that if you get enough people interested in structured debates, then go for it, organize your own thread and keep it with strict rules, but another Forum is unneeded. Otherwise, I think it would be cool to see a one-on-one debate thread going, usually entertaining. Just not a full Forum.

I like the structured debate thing, one on one, with rules. I've seen one in action on an Islamic forum with two scholars debating aspects of Sharia law. Boy do those guys know their stuff! They have a thread for the discussion, and a separate thread (they call it the 'popcorn' thread) for bystanders to post their comments and views on, so the main thread is left to the two debaters.

The Debate thread is already moderated to some degree. Given the rate of posting there it would take a lot of resources to moderate more heavily and the pace of the debate there is a good thing that would be compromised if all posts had to be approved.
