Apparent log-in problem.

I just spend two hours revising a post I've written out in fiction. I was definitely logged in, and was in the editing window, making the changes.

After I was (finally) done editing, I checked "Save", and I recieved a message saying that I was not logged in. I've run into this problem a few times before, so (doing what I usually do) I checked 'back' on my broswer, and instead of bringing me back to the edit window, the site relocated me into the general fiction area. Editing lost. Time wasted. Might want to check on that.

When you log in, click the box next to 'Remember me'. I think that should solve the problem, but in future, do your edits in Word. That way you can save your work with no troubles.

Ilan Bouchard is an unknown quantity at this point
Maybe the admin can change the time of inactivity to logout to something like an hour, not ten minutes. It would work on most other forums, but many of us put a lot of time into our posts, and many of us use public computers which prevents us from clicking "remember me."

Spook,
I feel your pain. The first time that happened to me, I was devastated that so much of my detailed critique disappeared simply by clicking on the back button. From then on, regardless of my log-in status, I highlight my post and copy it before I click any other button. That quick action has saved me more than once.

Glad to see I'm not alone on this one. Thanks all, for the great tips. Perhaps a mod will see this, and our dreams of a longer 'idle status' delay will come to fruition.

Cheers.

Same here. I think the time should increase before it logs you out. Or... it will stay until you either exit the internet browser or log yourself out.

A good suggestion and one worthy of higher consideration.

Hi, I'm going to have a look into this. I've had it happen to myself, at several places, and know what it feels like. I'm not exactly sure how to adjust the settings, but will find out. It may take me a bit, as I'm in the middle of moving my family to a new house. When I'm writing up longer posts, I generally compose them in Word, and cut and paste them in the form. I don't know if that's helpful to anyone though.
