Forum Expansion & Separation (Fiction)
This may have been asked before, but that is fine with me, merely because I'm curious what others think of this request and so on. I also know that chances of this happening, aren't that likely, considering we've got a hidden admit. But, here goes. Let's hope I can make this clear.
_____
Okay, what I wanted to know is, is it possible to get a second Fiction Forum? Now, let me elaborate. As many regulars in the Fiction thread, we notice a lot of Sci-Fi, Horror, and Fantasy. More than less. Even noticing that on the tag below Fiction says, "Horror, Fantasy, Science Fiction, Adventure, Thrillers, etc." Correct? Well, what I was wondering, is that in the midst of all of our fantasy stories, we do get some, more along the lines of, modern today stories. Romance, Drama, and so on. Ones that are based on today, or yesterday as were, and noticing for the past year, that many of those are overlooked with the massive fantasy-sci-fi function of posts going in and out quickly. Such as life, I know, but what I was wondering is, is there a way we could get a Forum more dedicated for Modern-today type stories, not based on Fantasy, or Sci-Fi and more for just things that we have to deal with today and such, while still most of the time being fictional.
Now, first thoughts reading through that myself, I know, we have Critique and Advice, Short Stories, Non-Fiction and Writer's Workshop/File 13. But sometimes, those more modern, today stories that are for Romance and Drama don't fit in there. So, if that makes sense. More or less, I do know a few that would use it.
This mainly came to mind, because I do know the aggravation of slaving over your art. Putting your all to have it be based on this type of culture, and today’s modern world. And then posting it in Fiction because it's not a Short Story and you want to just post it. Then it being over-ruled by 4 Fantasy Stories, 3 Sci-Fi, 1 Horror, 1 Question and 3 Thrillers within ten minutes. I also know that because I've had my Aurora story help cause that. That's why I thought of this.
_____
So what do you all think? Bad, good, yay, or nay. Just a suggestion.

Definitely a suggestion with some merit. I'm going to reserve comment until it becomes apparent how other people feel about it.

I second that. Actually, I second the whole post. Very good suggestion.

I was wishing the very same thing!!! There needs to be a place for writing that just doesn't fit into a stereotypical place. Good suggestion Oasis. I hope they take it into consideration.

Not just yes, but hell yes. That would serve as an outlet for the type of writing that I do, and I know would serve others very well, too. Thanks, Oasis. I wish I had thought of that myself.

YAY! Two more supporters. Spread the message! I was thinking about it a while ago, and suprisingly enough, it was first thought of when I read your story April. So, I figured let it leave and grow and see if anyone else recommends it, but no one has, I guess, and I felt it was important. So, I requested it. Thank you all, Arachn1d, Pawn, BeL, Juliett, and Aprilrain.

oasis: Are you talking about realistic fiction? I think it's a really good idea because I really like readin realistic fiction but its impossible to find any through all the sci fi fantasy! so I think it would be really good if they could do this. or just propose to do it and take a vote. its a really good idea.

Yes, I was reletively speaking for a Forum for, Romance, Drama, Modern-Day, Realistic Thrillers and so on. Things we all go through. I have found a few stories like that, but they end up on Page 5 of the Fiction very quickly. I know, specially with, and this is with the best respect because I'm helping it as well, but Dephere's 4 parts to Republic, and 8 parts to Dark Man, my 13 parts to Aurora, Titania's 3 parts to Coppereyes, and 6 parts to Ennead, (spelt wrong, sorry), Blackhawks 7 parts to I Saw Them, and so on. There are many of us that post in the Fiction, it just so happens the ones stated are usually on the front page a lot. And with the best respect, it's not fair. Now, it is a battle ground if they are writting fantasy and sci-fi, I understand that. But it's unfair for those that write about 'today' or romance, or drama and post it in Fiction because it doesn't fit anywhere else, and then get booted in 20 minutes. No fair fight. So, I think, that in all fairness, it would be good to have a Forum for those types of stories. Those that like to write them can post there and those that like to read them can easily find them instead of having to go through 58 Fantasy stories to find them. About after the 6th page, is unknown land, unless in a signature. So, I trully think this would help Writing Forums.

I support that idea. I pretty much stay out of the fiction forum because I'm not a particularly big fan of SF or Fantasy. If there were a separate section for drama/romance/realism I would be in there pretty regularly.

That's a helluva good suggestion. Admittedly, I never really thought about it 'cause I haven't posted much fiction. The majority of my fiction is adventure/fantasy but I also write real-life drama stories so I can see the point here. There should be a separate forum for each category and stories that cross genres could probably go in like 'General Fiction' or something

Thank you Alice and TsuTse. Alice, I won't PM anyone right now, merely because, I want the Forum to make the decision, not just the mods. I think it would be very affective, and I think it will help Writing Forums grow, as a community and as writers. Thank you both for comments and your thoughts on this, as with everyone else, how do you vote? No, yes. It's okay to say no, again, this is just a suggestion. Thanks everyone.
___
Edit: And then Bambie sneaks in. lol - Thank you, I agree with you. I write both, and I know several that write realistically, so I figured, you know, it could help, because some of my friends and so on quit writing that because they posted it and had to bump it several times to get someone to look at it, but no one can find it many of the times because the Fiction Forum moves quickly on Fantasy and so on. So I figure....this is a good thing. Thank you for your added two cents. I'm glad you agree.
