Where are the free writing contests? - Writers Forum

Everyone likes to win money, but why should you have to pay several hundred dollars to enter a contest where you may or may not win. It's not so much that you are out the money, but you don't get any feedback.

Does anyone know where there are free writing contests? We need a forum where they can be listed and shared amongst each other. They don't even have to be monetary prizes. Just one where you can get your face out there. Show your best work. Which is what a lot of us are doing. Throwing out some rough drafts, but saving your best for later.

Ever heard the expression "There's no such thing as a free lunch?"

There are a few free ones. They aren't worth entering; come to that, neither are most of the pay contests. If you want to get your face out there, get published. Get your work out there.

Actually I was misunderstood on that comment about a forum where we can be heard. I apologize for the misunderstanding.

Now that I think about it, that comment was very well thought out. I feel confident in this website, that if your work is good enough, then somebody out there will see what you can do, and then possible ask for some specific samples.

I've been searching for a site like this for many years. My step-son is the one who introduced me to it, and I am very appreciative that people give honest feedback. Especially when they give both positive and negative.
