Character Limit
I would like to suggest that the character limit on the posts, for such as in Fiction, should be either removed in that Forum, or if it can't be such in only one forum, then widened to 30,000 characters or more. 20,000 isn't that much, and I don't know. It seems kind of stupid to have to break apart one chapter into three becasue there's a 20,000 character limit. Now, to keep from ranting, I would either like to suggest that the limit be brought up to a higher ammount, or would someone explain to me why it was set like that, because if there is a method to the 20,000 character limit thing, or if there's a reason behind it being like that, then I would rather be corrected and let be then to make things harder for WF's, if that makes sense. Thank you, and sincerely... Oasis Writer

Good point.....I beleive in what you just said. Even though I'm not sure what why there is a limit when in fact there should be a complete forum for that.

There is, but it's blocked with a character limit of 20,000 characters, then it makes you have to repost, or edit, or break the post apart.

Actually, i'm not exactly in favor of increasing the character limit. It can be rather tiresome to read a very long post (and breaking it up isn't always an option).
The best solution I guess, is just to add your text in a Word doc attachement.

Plus, seeing how the character limit has affected the piece forces you to re-read it and see if you can't split the piece into clearer sections, which in turn improves readability. Or at least that's been my experience...

I guess, yeah, never thought of that. Valid points, and I guess, those are ligitimite to the case at hand. Thank you. Those actually help me understand why we have it the way it is. Thank you very much.

I answered my own question in one of your posts. When it's a huge post, people tend not to want to stop and take the time to read it.

Massive posts almost always go unread and uncommented. People just don't have the time or patience to read 30000 words in a single sitting, and even if they did, they wouldn't be easily able to make a coherent critique of it in a forum environment.
Breaking up a piece may be hard to do, but if you want people to read it, it's something you'll have to do.
All the best

Maybe tech issues too
Given the size of this site I can imagine that server space is probably at a premium. Imagine if 5,000 people like me each wanted to post their 1,000 page historical fiction epic.
I tend to agree with the attachment idea, it may reduce the number of respondents but may very well improve the quality of same.
