Online Library

I just noticed on another site for prose, that they have developed an online library of classical literature. You literally log on as normal and there is a forum where you can read authors such as Jane Austen chapter by chapter whilst you are still in the forums, it is amazing!!

I thought it was such a good idea I wondered what everyone else thought? A forum for simply reading.

I think that it could be a great idea, but reading large amounts of text on a screen is very tiring for my eyes. So, in principle, I'd think it was great, but in practice, perhaps not so much.

It would be broken down into Chapters with a limited word count on each page, so all you have to do is remember what page you were on.

It would be a great way to introduce the classics to a younger audience aswell.

Not a bad idea. I'll have to think about this. Aeryn and I have been building an online library of classics for some time now at www.literaturevault.com , we add new works every week. I'll see if I can figure out a way to work them into the forums here more. The new version of vb lets you "hook" data into the forums, so maybe I can rig it up so you can leave comments on the them using the forums and maybe even view them in the forum template as well as the LV one.
