You should do something about...

All the people on here. There is like 10,000 names on here and some of these people haven't logged on in like 4 months. maybe get rid of them and we could have less #'s to go through and stories!

And how would this be administered? There are many people who have left for a while because of commitments in their lives i.e. school, college, work, families, travel. They may have intentions to come back once they are not so busy.

Then the staff would be inundated with e-mails and PM's asking why accounts had been cancelled for no reason.

Maybe all the beautiful people who regularly post could have a fabulous flashing floral flag next to their avatars, to indicate that they are active in contrast to the passive non-posters, who would have a flag with a dull colour ;>

Well, at the bottom of the index page (below who's online), they have something that says, "Members: 5,881, Active Members: 694"

I think if we're counting how many active members there are, it would probably be possible to have a filter so that you'd only see active members.

Personally, I feel that all the inactive member's posts usually fall into the depths of the forums anyway, so I really don't feel it would be needed.

by the way, does anyone know what makes a member active or non-active for purposes of that counter?

I'm not sure what criteria the counter uses to come up with the number, but I do know that the active member count it displays does change on a daily basis. Keep an eye on it and you'll see a variance in it.

As far as weeding out members and deleting old posts, I feel the same as the ones above. Old posts usually get buried on the forums rather quickly and if they don't, there is always the posted date in the top left hand corner. Members do come and go, with long stints of being absent between posting because of things that come up in real life. It would be nearly impossible to make a call on who to delete and who to keep.
