Film Forum

Just wondering what people thought about a film forum. A place to discuss, old, new and future films i.e. characters, plot, cinematography, editing, development etc.

I just thought it may be interesting, especially for the fiction writers out there, even the non-fiction wirters to talk about movies that they have found helpful, inspirational or just down right crap!!

What do people think?

I'm a huge film buff and would be wildly in favor of such a forum, were it not that I feel we have insufficient interested parties to fill such a place. Nothing sadder than an empty forum (check 'Continued from Lit Org').

Yay! Film forum sounds cool. And there must be more than a few scriptwriters amongst the throng of people who grace these boards? To watch film, is to know film, is to write film. Next best thing to reading scripts is to watch movies. Thumbs up from the Crackpot.

SNAP! I used to be a stage actress, for many years. The natural progression from acting for me was writing scripts, and since I've an unhealthy obsession with film, screenwriting came easy. What has become apparent to me over the years of penning my wannabe oscar winning scripts, is that no matter what the quality; if you haven't got a foot in the door - no bugger is gonna read your material.

Networking is the basis of all in the movie business. Fortunately I live in an area pretty close to London and regularly attend networking events. But it ain't easy, movie professionals have an uncanny talent for making anyone 'unoptioned' feel like a moron. It's not nice, but it makes you toughen up the next time you meet some supposed 'head honcho' who thinks you'd look good on the 'casting couch'.

Lol!! I bet if we had a gaming forum it would overload the system.

Oh and Kate, when I lived in Upminster I used to do modelling and some acting, the 'casting couch' thing by leery old men is what drove me away, I hated it.

Don't bother to see Roman Polanski's recent film adaptation of Oliver Twist. It's a truncated piece of shit made for people who don't read books.

terrific idea, we can all lash out at HW for pumping out crap each week. and i could find new indie/foreign films out there that arent so expensive as most are on criterion collection. viva la resistance
