An Advice Library

I just spent some time going back through the Critique and Advice section and noticed a hell of alot of good adice that has been posted. Then afterwards everything gets repeated over and over in an endless cycle of bandwidth use that seems pointless.

Perhaps a new forum, which only the administrators and moderators can add to could be made with clear subheadings so that they are a permanent point of references for all writers who will be able to easily find and read good pieces of advice from the critique and advice forum.

Essays on writing stories or poetry etc.

I think this would streamline the process and mentors and moderators alike could then simply point people in the right direction for advice on various topics.

I think this sounds like a good idea, especially for serious writers.

The WF Bible is supposed to be a sort of FAQ full of answers to the commonly asked questions. We are in the process of adding to it, so if there is anything you would like to see in there please PM a Mentor and we will try to include it if possible. If I stop getting distracted, there will be a piece on first person and third person narration eventually.

Edit: I forgot to add this: Your suggestion is a good one Londongrey. I don't see it happening right now, but it's a great idea to keep in mind for the future.

perhaps the problem it the title... 'wf bible' doesn't sound to me like a collection of advice for writers... sounds more like the rules 'n regs of using the site...

why not change the title to something more easily recognizable for what it is?... such as:

writing tips
writing basics
A B Cs of writing

and add a simple thumbnail description of the content, to make it indisputably clear... so the topic head would read:

Sticky: writing basics (check here before posting questions)

or, something along those lines... and why not double up with posts of this sticky in the welcome section... or triple it with another in the critique one, as well... that way, more folks are likely to see it and hopefully check there, before posting yet another plea for the same info...

hugs, maia

I have to agree...it needs a different name.

I was one of those people who thought it was a guide/rules for WF.com. It didn't scream, 'Writing Tips'.

The topic about the WF Bible is called Writing 101 in the Mentor's Mod forum. Perhaps we should have gone with that title when it was time to post.

Thanks valeca and mammamaia. I'll run your suggestions by the others.
