I agree with everyone and everything said...except the gross picture, of course. I'm with Scratches...no more posting in threads in which there is arguing about Christianity, or uh...other bad things. So basically, no more Lounge for me.

If the topic is serious enough, it won't be messed with. My chicken or egg thread hasn't been touched, but then again...nothing is permanent.

scratches and cyber raise valid concerns... and, farror, please notice i did not make suggestions, just asked questions...
since i threw those questions open for debate with, 'does this make sense?' it should have been clear to all that i am only doing what i can to seek a solution to what we all seem to agree is a problem in one way or another...
i'm the last one here who would support a blanket age-segregation policy, as i mentor writers of all ages and some of my most talented mentees have been 'kids' of 14 and 15!...
the question i asked about it, however, had the desired effect of making you all think about the worst-case scenario alternative to controlling the childish behavior that is losing us many worth-having adult members...
if those who run this site aren't reading this thread and taking the pleas here seriously, they should be... i hope someone will bring it to their attention...
love and hugs, maia

Seems to be the case. Daniela said there are steps being taken and none too soon I'd wager.

Mammaia, I was simply stating my thoughts on those suggestions, which I assume is why you posted them. (to see what others thought)

Well, I AM done here. I have no desire to wait around and see if the site will be cleaned up in a year or two.
Anyone who has ever been a mod at any site knows that banning a member is simple. It takes seconds, actually. No paperwork. That person isn't going to come back and sue you.
Inactivity on the part of mods happens to be an activity in and of itself. By ignoring a member who blatantly ignores site rules (posting offensive images, attacking other users who happen to be mere children) or simply removing the offensive posts and giving him a talking to, the mods are condoning that very behavior. They are favoring the person who contributes nothing positive to this site more than others who have positive things to contribute but don't care to be in such a hostile environment. The mods, by lack of modding, have created the current idiot-friendly environment.
And yes, I understand that you all do not want this discussion here. You want us to PM the mods if we have concerns rather than putting them here for the public in a distasteful manner. Well, the issue is already public. It becomes public when people posts images of masturbating Jesuses and swear at fellow users. Well, if what I'm doing by writing this post is more distasteful than what bhauger does by being the site id, I'm so sorry to offend. But I won't be back to read any responses.

I'm Not
That was sad.
When did we become such an intolerant society of beings...?
I noticed that the recruitment stuff and the really interesting computer generated expression Bhag put up has come down (that one needs to find a TRUE cause and then---Onelight help us all). I applaud the mods and everyone eles that handled the situation with aplomb, patience and a grain of salt.
In general, I know that its fun to pick and its fun to get a lot of attention; these feed eachother on forums and its to be expected from time to time. And it seems to me that this forum has that, has a nice blow out from it, gets it out of its system, and things go back to normal. People blow off steam, they need to. It is the perceptive and ultimately, the wiser, that understand this, take nothing personally, get their kicks, their licks and go about pleasantly and even more wise.
My profound thought of the day is done. I have to go stop my daughter from stuffing her brother in the woodsto---never mind. He's already IN it and giggling happily. Thank the Onelight its shut down for the summer.
Honest---I'm standing RIGHT THERE, not five feet away. They teleport and move at the speed of sound, I swear...

Your thoughts are not ignored and action has been taken. If you see anymore of this behavior PLEASE PM a moderator.
Thank you,

I'm really sorry to hear you're leaving, Stacy. The site seems to be getting a good spring cleaning so far...I think things will go back to normal in a few days...I hope...

I'd like to jump back in here and say a hearty thank-you to the staff. The changes in the days since I first made this post have been noticed, and are greatly appreciated.
I've also noticed the posts concerning writing have jumped back up in number as well. Great work, people...a community rallied and pulled it together!
My thanks to everyone for their efforts.

I feel the need to apologize for my somewhat immature post of a couple days ago. I was venting, and much of it wasn't appropriate.
To the staff: I am sorry for implying that there isn't any work going on behind the scenes, and I admit that I don't know the whole story. The moderators and mentors all put in a lot of hard work on this site, and I DO appreciate your dedication. I know that you, much more than the rest of us here, are concerned with the direction of this site.
To the general WF population: I am sorry for adding to the negativity of the situation, which was the last thing WF needed just then. This is a really great writing community, even when some people who like to cause trouble ("trolls," I have noticed, is the preferred site term for them) take the attention away from those who mentor and encourage other writers.
Anyway, I am very sorry.

Everyone was frustrated at the time so I am sure none of the members would be immature enough to hold your earlier post against you. Venting here at WF was much healthier than what I almost did.
Welcome back.

~wonders what daniela almost did also~
Stacy, glad that you decided to give it another go. I echoe the comments made by daniela. Feelings and frustration were running high, even for me, and I think most things are perfectly understandable to those who read your post. Thankfully, the situation has been resolved and we can all get back to what makes this site such a great place.
And to Val, thanks for posting this so that everyone had a place they could vent. I think feelings of the members needed a place to be posted and this was an excellent place for it. In this instance I think public discussion of the problem was what was needed for everyone.
Cliff
