spammed!

I'm noticing an influx of spam at an email address I don't post anywhere or submit to any other website except for this one. Can anyone please explain why this is?

Spammers have web crawlers that go to websites and search for e-mails. That's why it's best not to put your e-mail plainly on a popular site. Just put blah @ blah dot com.

Or, like I did, make an image with your e-mail on it.

Also, if you sign up for anything, expect your e-mail to be passed around companies.

I don't think it's WF. I've been signed up here for months, and I've yet to receive a single piece of spam.

I remember a while ago, people complained about this... I think Chris mentioned something and fixed something, or something.

EDIT: Wait, I didn't add my email. Whoops...

Bhauger's sig make me laugh.

As for the spam thing, don't panic. It's a lot like the Force in that it permeates all things, and you can't get rid of it no matter how annoying it is.

I don't mind spam. All of my spam goes directly into my junk box, so it doesn't interfer with the rest of my mail.

This is going to sounds really mean, but it seems to me like every time lisajane replies to a thread, it begins with "I..."

Not that there's anything wrong with that at all, my friends...

No. Writers would much rather discuss Albert Brooks' next film, or why Henry Mancini is cool.

My mom seems to think that we got spy ware from this site. I tried to tell her WF is a very safe site, but we do have spy ware so I'm confused. Where could it have come from?

Well... I hate to break it to you, but all those sites you look at only when you're sure everyone's asleep? That's probably where you got it from.

Unless it showed an ad by Doubleclick or some other advertiser that is notorious for tracking cookies, but those are harmless and not to be worried about really.
