Word Games "No Posts" Error
Someone pointed out a strange error in word games. In several of the longer threads, such as "The Person Above," the message "No posts exist for this topic" is appearing for the last several pages of the thread. This is different than the common bug where the last page has no posts, because it affects numerous pages--in "The Person Above," at least three. For the members trying to view or post in these threads, please bear with it. I've PMed Chris and Spudley, and hopefully the problem will be fixed soon.
... Just wanted to let you all know so our Moderators and Admin don't receive a flurry of PMs. Thanks for your patience!

I have worked out that if you go to the bottom of the display box and select 'Newest first', it takes you to the end of the thread where there are posts.

*eye twitch*
That's wierd ... I thought I'd clicked on page 1 and received the same error. So it's similar to that other problem, but with about five blank pages instead of one.

I'm not sure if this could happen. But if somebody impatient goes hell for leather clicking the submit button, then goes through deleting all the posts would the pages still show up? Like a glitch?

I doubt it ... Surely you've noticed the old error I'm talking about? I think this is a complication from that one. Like it digi-volved or something.

Next it'll launch all US missiles at Russia, ushering in a cataclysmic nuclear winter.
... This has got to be some kind of record for the time it takes for a thread to go off topic.
If this keeps up we'll have to move it to Word Games ... But then our posts wouldn't exist.

Chris has been aware of this problem for some time (although the bit about five pages is news - I hadn't seen it happening with more than one page before).
As has been pointed out, the quickest way to deal with it is just to view the thread in reverse order, which will show all the posts, without the bug.
But in the long run, it is a bug in the phpBB forum software, which means we can't fix it simply by changing settings or doing things differently; it would need a correction to the software.
Chris has mentioned the possibility of changing the forum to use a different software package, to get around issues like this (there was a thread about it in the suggestion box). If it happens, it would mean a lot of work for Chris, so don't expect it to happen imminently.

HI Spudley, thank you.
I have just noticed that the new posts are not filling these pages up, it is advisable to continue using them? Or are we not adding to the problem?

I talked to Chris about this yesterday, he was working on it. I mentioned maybe starting a new thread of the same thing. Hopefully he'll get back to us today. I am having withdrawals.

That's how it works? I think that the whole site might just be slow today. It took forever for me to log in, and then it took a long time for the page containing "my posts" to come up. I now know how to get to "the person above" thanks to you guys, but why did it take so long for me to log in?
