Windchime has left Lit

This is sad. She's a true anchorwoman in poetry there.

Hopefully the staff can turn their attention to things that make solid members quit.

Oh for goodness sake, although not surprised, I would love to know why though.

I've sent this thread URL to Lucie and if she wants to explain, she will.

oh crap. i'm noramlly quite the cheerful kind of guy, but this is beginning to disappoint me.

I would love to get a little more 'transparencey' on these issues, what the problems are specifically and a response from Crowe.

If this has been done already, could someone give me the link or a PM? I don't think keeping it under wraps serves anyone.

windchime is another writter that I looked up to and her influence and talent will be sorely missed.

e-mail Peterpaulino. He'll fill you in, now himself having left Lit.

First I've even heard of it. All her stuff is still online.

As for the changes and transperency, these things are happening. For starters, there have only been 6 items deleted in the last month or so and 99% of them were simply double posts (people hit submit twice on the same piece). So if there is a new issue, no one has told me about it. I've been validating for several weeks now and there has only been one post we even considered removing and it was voted through.

So if there is a problem, I would sure love to hear what it is.

As Teflon suggested I wrote to Peter and he was nice enough to respond (he and I don't normally correspond) Peter was also kind enough to allow me to paste the body of his note here.

Quote:
Dear Phil,

Thank you for your concern.

Lucie has left lit.org for a good reason, as she told me in the email. She hasn’t explained further yet, though, but I believe her. Maybe she’ll be away on a travel. But as for me, it was just a coincidence that I also left when Lucie was saying good-bye to her on-line friends in lit. My reason is very much different. I am temporarily leaving poetry and poetry sites altogether. As everyone may find in my posts, I joined a Filipino poetry group, but I left that one as well. Family matters, that’s the reason. Well, to be specific, I’ll be very busy attending to my children’s needs (I have three). I just thought that maybe writing is not for me at this time yet, but I look forward to going back to it in the future.

I know sooner or later, Lucie will come forward too and tell everyone why she had to leave, for as what Penelope said, Lucie’s already been informed of Teflon’s thread.

Phil, thank you very much for the comments you’d written on my posts, and for reading the others which I know you did. From time to time I’ll be peeking in and read what you post.

God bless you.

Peter Paulino
It sounds like we may hear from Lucie at some point.

Chris: Am I to understand that deleted posts or comments has been the issue in the past? Forgive my ignorance but I tend to stay away from the discussion threads/blogs so I may be in the dark about this and I may be jumping to conclusions in my assumption that these events are related in some way.

This is a piece of my note to Peter which expresses my concerns more succinctly:

Quote:
I was very disappointed to hear that Claire had left lit and since then others have moved on as well, most recently Lucie (windchime) and now you. Along with Lans (GibsonGirl) this make four of the very finest poets at Lit and a crushing blow to those of us who look forward to reading your work.

Chrispian responded to my request (on WF) for a more open dialog about what's going on, and he is claiming that he hasn't heard and doesn't know why Lucie left. Would you mind filling in the history of this for me as well as what exactly the problem is? Is there anything that I and similarly minded people can do to help?
Please understand that as a member of what I see as a community, I'd like to do what I can to help resolve this. If it means doing things differently than I do now, I'd like to know. A community of writers without writers, especially those with so much talent and positive influence, is not something I would like to sit idly by and watch come to pass. [see! my writing's getting worse already.]

Lucie and I have been emailing back and forth. Her decision to leave lit has nothing to do with lit it was her personal choice because of wanting to pursue other avenues.

She says she has nothing but beautiful memories of lit. And I for one, Lucie being my mentor, have nothing but beautiful memories of her.

As with all things in life, people move on for a variety of reasons. I for one, haven't given up on LitOrg because I can already see improvements. I'm just more at home here and always have been.

Sorry to hear about w.c. & p.p. -- however, it can be cleansing to break with routine. I wish them both well -- I've enjoyed their writing.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to say that I think litorg has actually improved. I suspected that both the aforementioned writers left for reasons other than dissatisfaction w/litorg.

I was moderately critical of some facets of litorg in the past month, and have stopped posting. but I have stopped by to browse and occasionally comment. What I've found is a far less "intrusive" site, where the writers seem to monitor themselves. I think separating the supervisors and moderators from the critical aspect of the commenting has been a success. Perhaps I'm over reading the situation though. In any case, it seems that Chris listened and made some revisions. Thank you. Now more than ever, I feel litorg is a great place to write and read. I hope maybe some of those whom have left will check it out and return. I miss your words.
