Lit.Org Suggestion
Hi,
I just thought that just like in these forums it may be a good idea to have mentors at Lit.Org, just members who others know they can go to about certain things.
Now that Claire has left Lit.Org it may be a good idea???

I don't think it would work that well, since there's no PMing on lit.org.

Alex, by now it must be abundently apparent I prefer hanging out in the forums. The main reason, from what I can deduce, is the ability to have ongoing exchanges without being stifled. The forums is a different type of place. Which is why it was created. Hopefully - never the twain shall meet and I'm happier on this road. More of an interaction and less of a showcase.
Claire's initiatives at LitOrg will be missed because her efforts - especially the poetry threads - brought people into the creative game.

I agree, I think we will all miss her terribly, she always let peoples personalities come through.

I like the fact that I can click here at the forums and find all my posts. I wish I could do that at Lit. When I go to my own page there I have access to all of my work but only my most recent 10 comments.
I'd love to be able to track where I've been so I could go back and find things I've commented on to see if what I've said was helpful, or even better, to read an improved version.
I don't think it all has to be on there, I think the 10 comments thing is nice, but a search button to go back further would be sweet.

Hey Guys!
I agree with Philo, I wish we could go back and track all of our comments at lit. That is a wonderful feature here, actually we are pretty cool at WF, lol.

I was just over at Lit and I have to ask: What can we do about the flashing, blinking animated ads?
As writers and readers we all know that in order to do either, you need a little peace and quiet.
I also understand that Crowe needs to keep the cash flowing in order to keep these sites up and running. So my question is: What can we do? If we all pitch in a buck on Paypal, will that do it? Five?
No problem with the text ads by the way, just the animated stuff. I'm pretty sure its damaging my brain.
[what, not buying the last bit about the brain damage? had to try.]

there are ad blockers.
Norton Internet Security has a built-in pop-up and ad blocker. Whatever not blocked you could drag into a special tracker bar.
My surfing became so ad-less and colorless that I turned this off for a while. I missed seeing the context related Google ads.
I guess you can Google for the ad-blocking software.

The sites compliment eachother. Use both, be happy, make love.
Or, if you're clinically lazy, like me, just use this one.

Am I the only one who checks out a site before signing up? When Lit had a different moderation scheme (I think this was a few years ago), there were Mentors.
Quote:
Archon’s are the only people who can set Lit.Org policy or speak on behalf of Lit.Org itself. Only Justin and Chrispian are Archon’s.
Magistrate’s are Moderators in both the Forums and in the Archive. They are there to help post items, keep things on topic, and to help with general maintenance of the site. They help maintain the sites structure by helping to enforce the guidelines set forth in the faq.
Acolyte’s are our eyes, ears, and hands on the “street”. They let us know of errors, send in bug reports, scour the web for great resources and help spread the word about lit.org.
Guardian’s are Lit.Org Mentors. Many sites have a mentor program and our site is getting so big that we must also adopt this type of program. A Guardian’s role is to help other members use the site, improve their skill and quite often run or judge some of our special events.
