I've been accepted as Poetry Editor!

When a member of LitOrg decided to create an internet magazine featuring fiction and poetry of a dark nature, I was intrigued. I'd written a couple of spooky poems and decided I would submit one.

Due to the guidelines of Lost In The Dark, I had to remove the poem from the writing forums and LitOrg when it was accepted for the inaugural edition which came out April 1st 2004. My poem, Owl at the Oak was the only poem accepted.

Encouraged by the reception my poem received, I composed another one especially for the Summer Edition. The Bitterroot Pond. It was accepted too! Fortunately, there were other poets who'd had their submissions accepted as well. One of them is by a frequent poster and a moderator here at the writing forums.

As the deadline approached for the Fall edition I was in the middle of a Triolet writing frenzy. I composed a triple triolet titled "Terror" and submitted it. While browsing around the Lost In The Dark I noticed the editor, Athena Workman, had created a message board and was advertising for a poetry and fiction editor.

I wrote a groveling application letter and held my breath. Amazingly enough, Athena accepted my application and has now announced at LitOrg that I am now the Poetry Editor at Lost In The Dark.

Not only that but Athena was also kind enough to accept my poem as well! Now I am three for three!

While I still am able to submit poetry for this magazine, I doubt I will. Somehow I don't think I could get past my personal bias for my own poetry.

Without LitOrg, I would never have known about this new publication. Without LitOrg and the writing forums, I would be leading a much more sheltered and far less creative life.

Penelope

I am extremely pleased at athena's choice for poetry editor. With your input the quality of the poetry will be even better then it is now.My poem is very happy to be there while my other poem "my lovely wife" the other poem I submitted is crying for being left out of the party. But I will continue to submit and I encourge all at the forums to submit there work.

Congratulations my dearest Penelope

warmest and fondest regards,
bob

Congrats.

I don't know poetry all that well, but in comparison with what I have read before, yours really stands out.

Hollyoak - I'm glad you liked the poem Bitterroot Pond and it was a pleasure to write it especially for Lost In The Dark. Writing a pantoum story poem wasn't easy and I was pleased it came across well.

Bea! A babe? Cool!

Bob - it was wonderful to have you submit a poem to Lost In The Dark too and it's for sure I'm in fine company with your work gracing the pages too.

Sully474 - What a lovely compliment! For me it's important to appeal to all readers and not just poetry aficionados. I would have to say my delving into poetry was because I love words and was delighted to discover I could actually string some together with some semblance of reason.

To be accepted as a Poetry Editor is quite an accomplishment for me. I still am in a sort of pink haze of wonderment.

Penelope, well congrats to you. You have a beautiful talent and sharp of wit. There are not many that can mince words with you. I don't always comment on your stuff, but I always try and read what you produce because I know your talent is one to learn from.

And if you don't mind, I just wanted to say congrats also to Bob. I love your dark humour.

Thanks huni & Alex .. nice to get a double nod from Oz. This Poetry Editor thing won't be so taxing that I am away from the forums for any length of time.
