Downtime on Wed. Thurs. Fri. April

Our host had a serious hardware failure that resulted in Writing Forums being down. Normally, backups would have been avaialable, however the system error corrupted them quietly and so the last good backup was from our move to the new host. We lost 30 days of posts and new users. I'm very sorry for the onconvience, but I'm relieved we only lost 30 days and not over a years worth!!

Gary and his staff did a great job getting us back up quickly after this fluke error. If you signed up between March 15 and april 15, you may need to sign up again.

Also, the avatars that were lost from the move are again "lost". You may need to update your avatars, I did.

Wow. That REALLY sucks. . . . With my internet illiteracy, I didn't even know such a problem could happen. Strange. Good job fixing such a big problem so quickly, though.

Dang. I've lost about a hundred posts, and travelled back in time to that point when I was a Scribe. And there are people who have it far worse than me, who posted five hundred times or so. See my avatar for my feelings on the subject.

Sorry. I don't mean to hammer on you for this; it certainly wasn't your fault. Still, is there much danger of this happening again?

One more thing I just discovered. This old error message is back--it's easy to fix, I hope?

Would it be possible to restore the missing avatar section, I believe it was the "unisex" section.

Yep. It's a real shame, because there was some excellent stuff posted over the last few weeks.

I just hope people will repost some of it.

Yep. I got that too. Chris has sorted it out now.

For some reason that one just doesn't like to make the trip up to the server. I got it this time

Thank you, I could have found a new tiger bunny but it would not have fit well in the box space.

Sorry to be off topic, gents, but Farror, that was just about the most adorable thing I've read. Thought I'd mention it.
