Recent Downtime
Sorry for the recent downtime. Yesterday (Friday) was due to an error at my host.
My host monitors the number of "processes" a site uses and when it reaches a certain level it disables them. Writing Forums has been reaching this level frequently. I'm usually watching for it and it's only down for a few minutes at a time. However, yesterday my host had a server problem that prevented me from getting in and turning WF back on.
I am currently looking for a new host with more resources. I'm pretty sure I found one I'm going to use, now it's a matter of timing to get it setup and all the sites transferred. The other matter is that it's a jump from $55/mo to $145/mo and for at least 1 month I'll need to have both active.
We will get the new server soon so pleast hang in there.

No wqorries, Chris, I think it just pointed up the fact that when its down, it is sorely missed. I had to set up a paypal account, but as soon as it verifies my bank, I will be contributing. Sounds like you have it under control

Claire, you rock. Thanks so much. It'll help.
And thanks to everyone else who donated (both of you!), every penny helps.

As for the rest of us.. we're with you in spirit! (unlike Claire, I'm too lazy to set up a paypal account to transfer my nonexistent funds into the coffers of my most frequently visited site... that's modern society for you) Thanks and good luck.

I'm just as thrilled that so many of you are with me in spirit. I mean the donations help out, but they wouldn't even exist if there weren't so many people visiting and using the sites. I'm very proud of what we've all built up here!
Just a quick update - My friend Gary at Dixie Sys is going to get me setup with some hosting for the forums which should clear up this problem until we find a suitable home for all our sites.

I think it's important to show appreciation in a tangible way, if one can afford it. I've been donating for five months because I have the resources. So Pawn, speak for yourself when you say 'As for the rest of us'. Your sweeping statement somehow excluded me but I'm sure it was unintentional.
Chris, as always, not much is for free and this site, as well as LitOrg, has the highest traffic and the most participation I've ever come across. I guess that's one of the reasons I'm an Ink Slinger.

'the rest' meant those who haven't managed to donate, so yes it was unintentional. It's undeniably important to show tangible support, but a good second best is at least registering it.

I agree with you. Support in any regard is never 'second best' though. I donate because I can afford to and think no less of people who can't. It's the socialist in me.
