This, however, does not allow any gratuitous violence or graphic sexual discription, nor the excessive use of adult language.
An Adult Section has been brought up for discussion before, and it was decided that such a forum and the problems it could entail aren't needed here at WF. When a piece of work adheres to the above guidelines, it is perfectly acceptable to post in any of the existing forums. If in doubt as to what is or isn't acceptable, contact a member of staff and get their opinion.
Hope that helps clear things up.

Kind of.
Its just that I personally can accept a lot more than most so my idea of graphic may be a bit more loose than others. I guess I just have trouble with the notion that the merit of my writing (if in fact it does have any) may be looked over because the scene is too graphic. Literature today has gotten much more graphic in both violence and sexuality than it ever has before. My wife regularly reads romance novels available readily in Drug Stores (Pharmacies, Chemists) that really push the envelope as far as sexuality is concerned, and many mainstream authors are getting more and more graphic with every passing year.
I will respect the wishes of the site administrators of course and take down anything that is deemed inappropriate.
Thank you so much for the quick response!

Selorian,
Thanks for the conformation it'll help me out understand what is and what isn't acceptable to post. Thanks for the speedy 1 day reply.

How can I correct my user name - should be brightwater03, not brightwa rer03?
I write better than I type.

I'd suggest, with only having 3 posts, you ask for the account to be removed, then create a new one with the correct spelling.

It's possible for the admins to change your user name. I recently changed mine from Omnius to Rob. Understandably, it's not something they'd want to be doing every 5 minutes, but in your case I suggest you put in a request to have it corrected.
Cheers,
Rob

another forum has just had to ban a member for posting works lifted from the internet as his own... not having had such blatant plagiarism forbidden in the site's rules 'n regs, he may not have known it was unethical, illegal, and a major threat to the site itself, if the owners of the works found out...
so i checked this site's rules and couldn't find anything about posting others' work here, either... is it here and i missed it?... and if it's not, why not!?...
many new and young writers don't know it's against the law to copy and paste anyone else's work in a thread if they don't have permission... and, if they do, that they must cite the source, not just post it as if it's their own...
so please, mods/admin, make sure that is made known to all who come/post here!
love and hugs, maia

mammamaia makes a very good point ...
I'm sure there is some clause in the user agreement regarding copyright and US Law (given that the server is US based), but a permanent reminder in the rules would be advisable.
Perhaps some expansion on the clause:

In my brief time here as a member, I've encountered quite a few duplicate posts, and one occasion where a member posted a piece "written by a friend" without citation or express permission.
On the subject of changing morals in literature, it is true ...
Pieces I wrote 20 years ago that were rejected for being "too pink" (ie, too sexually graphic)
have in recent years been considered too tame ...
however, adult content still has age barriers in publication and sale, and so care should still be exercised when posting in a "family" or PG site ...

I think that you should make another section for the more "adult" themes so that there is a place to post the material that anyone who is too young will not read.

What makes you think the 'too young' will not read a section marked 'Adult'? If anything, it'd attract the younger readers, not discourage them.

We've been over the adult section. It's not happening.

my stuff is what a lot of people would call excessively profane and violent, but I think it is all perfectly within reason and adds to the story. should I just put an extra strong warning on there or should I just leave it off the site?

When in doubt, ask a Mentor or Moderator to look at your story before you post it to see if it's acceptable content or too much for WF.

The disclaimer, do we put that in the subject of the thread or the actual post?

size and foirma
Maybe this is posted and I just can’t find it but I have only been to this site a few times.
Is there a guideline or rule about the size of a posted piece.
I>E> I just finished a short story that is 125kb. It is just under 6,000 words and has 1 image.
It is written in Word. Can I simply paste including the image?
