NOTE We will be taking the forums down for approx. 2 hours this coming Saturday (September 27) to upgrade our forum software. You may notice some oddities if you try to access the forums early on Saturday.

Yep, it is the 27th maybe Chrispian just meant it was Sunday and not Saturday. It could be either or that was mixed up. But wait you can't take the Forums away from me. Two hours is much too long... Please! My medicine for obsessive compulsive is running out! *wink, wink*

Woops. I fixed the post. Silly me
It *probably* won't take 2 hours. I should have most of the work done before I actually start the upgrade. Just wanted to post the heads up just in case it doesn't go as planned!

I'm assuming phpBB v2.0.6 will be part of the 'upgrade' ?
As there are some serious security holes in v2.0.3
Thanks again for the heads up.

Within the next several months, the phpBB group, as you probably know, is coming out whith v2.2, which will surpass vBulletin as far as features go by far. And, as phpBB currently is, it will be 100% free.

I've got no problem with phpBB's features. It has everything I need at the moment. I almost wish they charged at least $35 so they could afford to keep it up to date more (and hence more secure). That's the only real advantage to VB. Since it's pay it has more resources to put into development. They also have version 3 coming out soon with looks REALLY nice.
I was looking at phpBB 2.2 recently as well and it does indeed look good. I'm looking forward to it.

I prefer "humble servant". It's my duty to make sure this place runs the way YOU want it to.
You guys and gals are the boss. Don't ever think it's the other way around.

Exactly the way the government is *supposed* to be, but it usually doesn't turn out that way. And that's exactly what the government would say!
j/k
Getting off topic here...

I'm delaying the upgrade until Sunday morning. I've still got a little bit of tweaking to do on the new forum's templates.

As you may notice the upgrade is complete. I fixed quite a few things that were bugging me about the old template (mostly minor stuff like alignment, where things were, wasted space etc) and I added a few small things and a side bar.
I went very well only one small bug to sqash that I can't seem to figure out. On the stats page the new user box on the top right doesn't work. It works on every other page, just not that one. I'll figure it out later though, not a big deal.
Please let me know if you run into any trouble.
