It’s 6 A.M. The first day of school.
The radio comes on.
“Good mornin’ folks and all you out there listening to HLYE 81.6 today. The weather should be good all day with clear skies and highs of 96 degrees, perfect for Texas high school football. Lets go to the phones and see what the people of Smalltown have to say.”

Brian slowly comes to a sit on top of his bed and stretches his arms out while yawning. He then walks out of bed and goes to the kitchen, like he does every morning, to see what his mom has made for breakfast. However, upon walking in, he notices a stern look on his fathers face.

Brian’s father, Mr. Rodgers, takes off his glasses, and stares into his son’s eyes.

“Do you want to go to college?” said Mr. Rodgers.
“Yes sir” says Brian.
Brian, realizing the pressure he now had to succeed and make his father proud, was no longer hungry. He goes to his room and starts putting on the clothes his mother has just ironed for him. He gives himself one last look in the mirror, takes a deep breath and heads for the door. Brian reaches in his pocket and pulls out his car keys. While driving to school he spots his friend, Johnny, walking down the street. He pulls over to pick him up.
“Sup’ bro” says Johnny.
Johnny was not the smartest in his class.
“Do you need a ride?” asked Brian.
“Yeah”
