The Tooth Fairy Isn’t Real

The Tooth Fairy Isn’t Real

I sat in a chair in the waiting room. According to the woman at the front desk, the dentist would be right with me. I wanted him to hurry up. I was tired from work and I just wanted to get home to my family. There was an easy listening station playing in the room. It made me more tired than I already was, and I eventually fell asleep.

I woke up to a bright light in my eyes. I squinted and saw that I was now in the dentist’s office. I was sitting in the chair and it was leaned back almost completely. I closed my eyes and crossed my arms, waiting for the dentist to come back. I opened my eyes when I realized that I hadn’t crossed my arms.

I looked down to find that my arms were strapped down, as well as my feet.
“What the hell?” I wondered out loud. I looked around the room. It was empty. There were cabinets lining the walls and there was a door on the far side of the room. It was closed.

“Hello?” I shouted. I heard footsteps on the other side of the door. It opened after a few more seconds and a man walked in. He wasn’t my usual dentist. I had never seen him before.

“Where’s my dentist?” I asked him.

“He left. We have all new dentists working here now.” He replied. He pulled a mask down over his mouth and sat in a chair next to me.

“Well why wasn’t I informed?” I asked him angrily, “And why the hell am I tied down?” He didn’t reply. He leaned over me and peered into my mouth.

“Can you open a little wider?” he asked.

“No I can’t open a little wider. Answer my questions before I call the cops.” I reached for my pocket to take out my cell phone. Before I reached in, I noticed my cell phone sitting on a table at the other end of the room.

“Give me my cell phone and let me the hell out of here.” I tried to sound angry, but I was starting to worry.

“You’re going to have to open your mouth or I won’t be able to do anything, sir.” said the man.

“I’m not opening my mouth. Let me out of here! What the hell is this?” I struggled with the straps holding my arms and legs down.

“Well I see you’re not going to cooperate, are you?” He shook his head and sighed. Then he picked something up and put it in my mouth. I bit down on his finger. He cried out in pain!

“You son of a bitch!” he shouted. He punched the side of my head. Pain shot through my face and into my neck. I cried out in pain as well. The man shoved something into my mouth again. He opened it up and it kept my mouth open. I couldn’t bite down or close my mouth at all.

“What the hell is this?” I tried to shout. It came out muffled. The man didn’t respond. He looked into my mouth. He reached up and tapped my teeth with a metal tool. My head still ached from the blow. The man put his tool down on a small metal table next to my chair.

“It looks like those teeth will have to go.” He muttered. He wrote something down on a clipboard, then put it behind him on a shelf.

“What teeth? You’re not taking a damn thing from me!” I tried to say. Once again it was muffled. I struggled with the straps some more, but to no avail.
“All of them, I’m afraid.” He picked up another metal tool, one I was more familiar with; pliers, pincers to be more specific. Muffled screams escaped from deep down in my throat.

“Please!” I shouted, “Please no!”

The man, as usual, didn’t respond. He pulled on a pair of rubber gloves and washed his hands in the sink. I couldn’t see him because he was behind the chair, but I could hear the water running in the sink.

“Alright, this won’t hurt a bit.” He said. He pulled up a wooden stool and sat down next to my chair. I tried to grab for him, tried to close my mouth, but nothing happened. I was tied down very tightly. The man picked up the pincers and put them into my mouth.

“I’ll start with the front teeth,” he muttered, “And then I’ll work my way back.” He said it so indifferently that it sent a chill up my spine. I cringed as he wrapped the pliers around my left front tooth. I braced myself for the horrible pain I was about to experience. The pliers tightened and I felt my tooth being pulled forward. I shut my eyes tighter and started to cry. Suddenly my head jerked forward as the man pulled on my tooth harder. I screamed out again.

“Damn thing just doesn’t want to come out! “ He shouted. He stood up and put his hand on my forehead. He tugged harder at my tooth. Suddenly with a pop that only I heard in my head, the tooth flew out of my mouth and the pain shot up into face. I screamed and cried as the man looked at the tooth. He dropped it into a jar that I only now noticed. It was full of teeth.

After a few seconds I tasted blood. My mouth became full of blood as it dripped down from where my tooth had been. I screamed more and more, hoping someone would hear me eventually. The man didn’t tell me to stop, so I realized he must know that no one would hear me.

“Okay, ready for the next one?” he asked. I shook my head and cursed at him. It was barely understandable through the blood and the tool keeping my mouth open. I tried to spit it out but it was stuck inside. The man spun away from the jar of teeth and leaned in with the pliers. I began to cry harder and the man started to laugh. His laugh was so horrible. I closed my eyes and screamed in his face.

“He’ll see you now!” he shouted and laughed in my face again. Spit flew from his mouth as he laughed. He leaned in closer to my face.

“He’ll see you now!” he shouted again. I opened my eyes just in time to see him reach the pliers back into my mouth.

“He’ll see you now.”

I awoke with a start. I was halfway down the seat in the waiting room. I had almost fell completely out of the chair. I looked around panicked. There was a woman standing up behind the desk calling to me.

“He’ll see you now.” She said again. She smiled at me. My eyes were wide in shock and my mouth was hanging open. Her smile faded.

“Are you alright, sir?” she asked. She started to say something else but I had already run out of the building and to my car in the parking lot.

I wrote this story for my Creative Writing class this past year (10th grade).
It's just a fun, yet twisted story, not too much to think about.
It's probably one thing that EVERYONE has some fear about,
getting their teeth yanked right out of their head!
It's basically just a horrific form of the tooth fairy haha.
And the ending is pretty basic, I just had to end it somehow. ;]

I hope you enjoyed it!
