A Christmas E-mail.
Hello. My name is jane. jane doe.
No, I am not john. john doe. I am, however, every woman in john.'s life (excpet one). I am his mother and his aunt. I am his daughter, his niece, and his ex-wife. I am also his grandmother.
I am every woman in john.'s life (excpet one): Cindi.
Check this out:
john. john doe. is my dad. He and Cindi have never been married and have never lived together, but I have no memories of my dad without her - and I am almost sixteen years old.
Once my dad jokingly refered to Cindi as my step-mother. I looked at him rather seriously and said, "Sometimes I feel that way too." I really don't know if they are in love. Sometimes it seems like they are and sometimes it doesn't.
It's 6:59am. I am writing this long hand. I can't use the computer right now because my dad is answering his email. I am visiting my dad for the Christmas holidays. He lives in San Francisco and I live in Boulder with my mother, jane. jane doe. Believe me, I have lots of frequent flyer miles.
Sometimes my dad drives me crazy. Everything my dad owns is old. His refrigerator is older than he is. Sometimes I have to defrost it - some of my friends have never heard the word "defrost" before. It is stoneage...just like my dad.
When I was born my dad was a disc jocky. He met Cindi at a radio station he worked at. Cindi worked weekends and sometimes my dad would talk to her. One day he decided to ask her for a date, but just as he was about to ask...she mentioned a boyfriend. I guess dad played it cool and didn't ask her out.
I don't remember the rest of the story. My dad told me but I forgot. All I know is that they finally got together.
My name is jane. jane doe. I am every woman in john.'s life (except one). I am like smoke drifting or an angel sitting on your shoulder. I am a red-haired blonde brunette. I am a very pretty middle-aged spinster grandmother and a wealthy woman without a dime.
john. bought a calender this morning with graphic dipictions of people enjoying soft drinks.
He's finished his email. Now I can send this.
Merry Christmas,
jane. jane doe.
