The Space Chronicle-Chapter 1 (Sci-Fi)
Part of Chapter One of my story, please tell me what you think!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
RRRRIIIIIINNNNGG!
I woke up to the sound of the bell. That meant the war had begun.
"All pilots, report to the flight deck for take-off!"
I sprung out of my cot ran through the door and down the steel hallway. Soon, other pilots joined me in the long sprint to the stairwell that would take us to the flight deck. It was wierd-as I got closer to those stairs, more and more of me wanted to just stop running, to turn around and hop back onto that cot and into the security and familiarity of sleep. I don't think anybody wanted it to come to war, but everybody knew that it was bound to happen. Galaxy Quadrant Delta was always shaky when it came to the Alliance, and after we had lost contact with Quadrant Gamma a few days ago, it was only a matter of time before they reached our part of the galaxy, Quadrant Alpha. Now it was serious.
As we all reached the flight deck and got into our fighters, our CO quickly barked out the mission briefing on the intercom.
"Hostile enemy forces from from Delta have reached our quadrant and have begun a full-fledged attack on the nearby planets. You are to search and destroy any and all hostiles. Make them regret every second they spend in Alpha, DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?!?"
Excited roars and cheers came from everywhere. Everyone enjoyed those little pep-talks the CO gave before we all shipped out, even if they were a little corny. Nonetheless, everyone seemed to move ten times faster. I checked my gauges, gave the thumbs-up to the deck hand who cleared me for take off on the radio. The deck began to clear out as all the fighters prepared for take off, and one by one we were off, into the great vacuum of space and the unknown enemy.
We were officially at war.
