Elysium is on a distinguished road
Get ready, set, sigh.

The stage is set with a floor of a forever sandy beach surrendering to the gentle giant of an ocean. Curtains pulled to the left lead the sand over dunes with a faint outline of grass while the curtains to the right are made of rising and falling waves flowing from a horizon of fading orange. The sun has set but still leaves us with a few rays of colorful light to guide us to nowhere.

I look down and watch the clear ocean water tumble over your feet and tickle your toes. A couple grains of sand pick up and roll over you in search of a deeper home. Like the last piece being put in a puzzle, you slip your fingers into mine with a sweet comfort. I look over at our hands – entwined together in a beautiful harmony of hope and love. I squeeze a second tighter in reassurance that I will never let go.

We walk side by side in this dream of wide smiles and playful winks. You touch the water and I feel the sand, fusing two worlds in our hands. You look out to where, a few minutes ago, we were watching the sun exit stage right. I follow your gaze but stop at your face. So gorgeously adorable with eyes that seem to be a more beautiful shade every time I look at them; hair tossed in a cute mess by air stirred up by the waves; that perfect smile. Your smile alone is worth a thousand words but satisfies with leaving me in a silent awe.

You look back and catch my eyes with yours. We smile at each other and stop moving. It was that type of moment of a rising feeling that always came before something spectacular. The silence between us was the anthem to the country of love. We lean together and close our eyes for that perfect kiss. Then I feel your hand leave mine with a lingering swiftness. I open my eyes from confusion and see you jogging down the beach. You look back at me and flash your hook-line-and-sinker smile.

Catch me if you can.

I jogged in long strides, feeling the sand mold away from my feet as I moved closer to you. I come within just a few feet of you; both of us still moving. I reach out and touch your arm. You quickly stop and spin around unexpectedly. Just a second before we collide, you’re still grinning; in the process of shaping your lips into a pucker. I try to gasp in surprise but you catch my breath with your lips. My momentum slowed significantly in that moment, but I didn’t stop until our bodies were one form.

If someone saw us, they would have seen love on a background of the darkest orange with specks of stars beginning to show. All framed by caring passion and the soft sound of the ocean caressing our beach.
