Part two...well...the extension anyway...I'm still working on it...I will post as I go.

Renae Martin stood quietly next to the crib where her daughter slept soundly,

watching her chest rise and fall with every breath. At six months old, Lily was still

small, as she had been born three months prematurely, and had been expected to live

no longer than one or two days. She had been a fighter, and had pulled herself

through, and eventually, at three months old, was allowed out of the intensive care unit

and home for the first time. For the whole first month Lily was home, Renae slept

where she now stood, on the floor next to the crib, and listened to her daughter

breathe all night long. With the passing of the next few months, she grew less and less

anxious over her daughter’s breathing, and began visiting the room for only a short

time.

“Honey?” Renae’s husband, Steve poked his head into the door, then joined his wife

the edge of his daughter’s crib. “Honey, why don’t you come to bed now? She’s fine.

She always is.”

“Yeah,” she sighed, “I know. I just feel better when I can see that she’s alright with

my own two eyes.”

“I understand.” He put his arm around her waist, ushering her out of the room, an

almost inaudible click following them out as he pulled the door shut behind them.

It's a very good start. Sometimes for me, a story will fall right out of my head and i paste it to the screen so I don't lose it. Other times it is slow, almost like coaxing it out word by word.

I'd like to see the completed work once it is done.
