An Early Morning Story with a Happy Ending by Nick Manning(349 words)

Chris was a jovial, happy kid who loved to joke around with others. His funny antics were what made him an overall fun kid. "Hey, Bob, wanna flip a coin?" he asked eagerly to his only close friend, with a smile on his face ever so sincere. He had other acquaintances, but that was about it. "Heads I win, tails you lose!" he belted.
"All right, flip it!" Bob said with a laugh. Chris flipped the coin. It landed on heads.
"Heads--I win!" Chris jubilantly exclaimed. Bob had a smile on his face.
"Flip it again!" cheered Bob zealously. Chris flipped it and didn't even look at the coin.
"It's tails! You lose! Haha--get it?" joked Chris.
Bob stared his stone face deep into Chris's lit up eyes. "Oh, yeah I get it--heads you win tails you lose, haha. Yeah ha freaking ha. That was a good one, Chris. Real funny, you freaking jerk. You know, this is what I don't freaking get. Who the fuck made you king of the god damn planet to manipulate kids like me who decide to be your friend. That's right, I said decide. You think I really want to be your friend? No. I just felt sorry for your lonely ass. Well guess what, I'm sick of it. I'm sick of you. You just think you're so cool but you're not. You're not funny either; you never will be. Jesus Christ can't you just go home and leave me alone. Shit, I'm surprised all your parents did was get divorced to get away from you; I'm surprised they didn't just kill you or themselves. Here. Have your fucking friendship bracelet. Those things are for fucking annoying assholes like you. Goddamn...fucking coin. And why the fuck are you still smiling you scummy piece of shit?"
Chris was smiling but a tear was making a trail down his cheek. He continued to smile, even when he was found dead, on the ground, with a bloody face and his foster mother's riffle in his hand. Nobody went to his funeral.

THE END!

Oh God, that's horrible. Really, really gutting. It reminds me of my little 10 year old brother Chris who is a real joker and mischief maker, always craving attention and very annoying sometimes but always cheerful and with a real soft, sensitive inside. You wouldn't want to hurt him for the world. For that reason, I'm giving it a thumbs up. A good story should provoke a reaction. Well done.

riffle = rifle

I didn't expect that, but yeah, that's probably what you were going for, huh? It gave me mood whiplash.
