Thoughts On The Surface Of The Mind. Laughing the World Away
I'm waking up. You think numbly to yourself. Pausing from your train of thought only to lean back in bed and rest another five seconds. Your head aches. The kind of headache that could split a noggin.
Pausing for thoughts only on the surface of your mind. You walk groggily downstairs. Your clothes are laying there: inviting and eager. Unlike you. You wonder if there is any point in the world. Anything worth living or dying for. When you think of an answer you disregard it, because... in the end. You really don't what matters and what doesn't. you don't know what worlds lay beyond the realm of humanity. You really don't know if there is someone out there just like you. Though... most importantly... you don't know what is awaiting you.
Isn't life a game? Isn't life a sham? Isn't life a- well what does it matter? Isn't life confusing enough as it is? You don't know. You never will know, but you wish you could...
Years flying past. Hitting you as a tidal wave breaks a rock. You feel invincible at some moments and as weak as death at others. What is awaiting you when you die? Do you even want to figure it out? You're not sure. Not sure one bit.
You are sure, that there is some good in this world. That this is what life is continuing for. That it is what you believe in. That when the darkness engulfs you, you remember that there is light in the uttermost abyss of black.
So you lean back. You lean back deeply against the wall. Back against that secure nesting place beside your bed. Then you suddenly realize: that you're not going to school or work today. In fact, you're not doing anything.
So you begin to smile. A small go-happy grin at the lips. Then you start laughing. Laughing until you cry. Rejoicing in your tears.
Oh God do you laugh... Laughing the world away...
