Goodnight sweetheart

Fred sits on the edge of the bed waiting for his wife Gracie to finish checking doors and turning off lights - a nightly ritual for the last 50 years. As she approached he felt his heart begin to race in anticipation of her appearence at the bedroom door. She had always had that affect on him ever since their first night together - their wedding night.
She always seemed to appear at the door in slow motion, just like in the movies. When they had first married she had worn a slinky little number and as the years passed it had been replaced by a brushed cotten, calf length nightie, not that Fred really minded, she was still the same woman that he had married underneath. As she came in through the door he stood and took a step towards her, took her in a ballroom hold and waltzed her around to her side of the bed, they had been professional dancers in their time. He bowed, she curtsied and they both laughed. Gently he took her hand as she took off her slippers revealing dainty slender feet, he helped her off with her dressing gown laying it carefully over the back of the chair by the window. Tucking the sheet in he bent and gently kissed her on the forehead and she smiled up at him as he walked round to his side of the bed. He hung his dressing gown on the back of the door. Gracie had already folded back the sheet on his side of the bed for him. he slipped his feet out of his slippers and slid into the bed beside his precious wife. As he reached up to turn out the light Gracie smiled at him,
"It was our anniversary today," she reminded him.
"I know" he said as he gave her a cuddle and a kiss.

We were given the challenge to write a bedroom scene in our creative writing course and then our tutor left the rest to our own imagination.
