Notice me

Notice me

She saw the man enter from the metal doors on the left. He was tall, walked proud, and very handsome. He looked at the girls on display, flipping ones hair occasionally and smiling at many of them. She had that feeling in her stomach, envy, sadness, and anger all mixed together. She wanted him to come over and notice her, she wanted to be special. She had been dressed real nice, her platinum blonde hair was done nicely, and Bonatrix assured her she was beautiful, but she couldn’t believe him. She felt like the unwanted scraps, ignored, unimportant, and cast aside. Her whole life, she was promised a prince, she was promised a knight to sweep her off her feet and take her away.

“If only he would come over and notice me.” She thought to herself. She sighed, slouched, and twirled one of the pieces of hair dangling so strategically in front of her face. “Stand tall girl!” Bonatrix said in a harsh voice as he waddled over to her. Hearing this, she straightened up, but continued to play with her hair. She couldn’t get her mind off the man, and kept searching the showroom floor for him. “Do you think anyone will ever buy me?” She pathetically whimpered to Bonatrix. “Ohh look don’t get that boo-hoo attitude with me, ok? You are one of the prettiest girls I have, don’t worry!” This gave her a sudden feeling of joy, but it quickly subsided when she convinced herself he was just flattering her. When Bonatrix left, she started slouching again, and got into some deep thought.

Her trance of self pity was broken with a smooth voice. She jerked her head up, and saw that same man she was scanning for earlier. “You’re a pretty cute girl” He said tactfully, which made her lower her head and blush. “What’s your name sweetie?” She drew breath to speak, but was stopped when Bonatrix came over, and loudly greeted the man, “Why hello! So glad you decided to wander to our neck of the woods! We have a lot of girls here, anything catching your eye?” The man started talking, “This girl--” but was cut off with Bonatrix’s usual sales pitch. “We have some beautiful girls down here, they are very vogue girls”. The man raised his voice to show he didn’t want to hear the pitch, and started what he was saying again, “This girl is so pretty" he put his hand on his chin, "can you give me an estimate?” Bonatrix was startled he was interested in her. “Oh, her? Well, if you want… I will let her go for 3400.” Her pride and happiness were soaring. She was a little dizzy, and her mind sort of went blank. “Why does he want me?” Here self pitying thoughts were jettisoned from her mind, and she looked at the man in awe. He returned her gaze, and she knew her prince did come. No more Bonatrix, no more showrooms, she was placed into the graces of something perfect, and nothing could ever ruin it.

The man handed Bonatrix his card, and he returned a minute later. “Thank you for buying from The Great Bonatrix! We guarantee you will enjoy your purchase.” Bonatrix handed the man her control switch, and he explained it to the man. “This is her control switch. You flip up this plastic case, and hit this red button, it will paralyze her. That is, if she is running away, which I know wont happen." He shot a stern look at her. "If you lose it, please call for a replacement.”

With that, the man locked arms with her, and started walking to the double metal doors. She could hardly keep herself upright, her stomach was full of butterflies, her mind was racing, but she was happy. She was honestly happy. In that moment she forgot all things that have happened, and didn’t care about what’s going to happen. She just treasured the feeling of his warm arm against hers. As they passed the double metal doors, he pinched her cheek and asked, “What’s your name?”

I know this story is weird, girls being sold and all. Please don't get offended, this doesn't reflect what I really believe, I just thought it might be an interesting story.

I didn't use any names, not because I'm lazy, but I just figured I would try it without names (except Bonatrix).

If you took the time to read it (thank you) please just say what you think about it. Don't worry about my feelings, just say what you honestly think.

Kat is an unknown quantity at this point
There are a few little problems. Like the first paragraph, "He was tall, walked proud and very handsome. " It doesn't flow well. Maybe if you switched very handsome and walked tall. The story was nice though, simple easy read. I didn't read as though they were real girls, more like androids or something. The idea isn't bad.

I enjoyed it. I also had a slight impression of the girls not being entirely real. Androids or some such seemed likely. I agree with Kat that the description of the man doesn't flow nicely. Would also like to see more description of him.

Overall, nice piece. Could make an interesting story
