    Snuggles of the SITH

This is a script for a short film I am going to be making with my son. I'm posting it here for comments, it's only meant as a fun exercise, the bear is CG (in most shots). It will end up on youtube when done. Thanks in advance.

    INT. KITCHEN. DAY

A door opens and a father and son enter the room. Both carry bags of groceries, and the father is using the instep of his right foot to slide a box through the threshold. They both stop at a table inside and place the bags into chairs.

    FATHER (calling out)
    Hello? We’re home!
He pauses for a moment, then turns to his son.

    FATHER (whispering)
Hey, don’t tell your mother we went out to eat, she was cooking supper.
    The son nods his agreement.
    FATHER
Remember, you promised to clean your room before you can play video games.

    SON
But I don’t want to clean my room!
    FATHER
Go. It’s not that bad, it shouldn’t take more than a minute if you hurry.
The father watches as his son storms up the stairs and out of view. The fathers voice can be heard through a heating vent in the floor.

    INT. BOYS ROOM. DAY

    FATHER
And no playing around, get it done!
The boy collapses into his beanbag chair, crossing his arms defiantly. He only pauses a moment, just long enough to gain a measure of control over his cleaning schedule. His fathers voice filters through the vent again.
    FATHER (O.S)
    Honey, are you home?
The boy begins to distractedly lob toys into his toy box, not noticing that approximately half of them carom back onto the floor. A red ball ricochets from the lip of the box, bounces across his line of sight and rolls under his bed.

He’s almost ready to disregard it when the ball comes rolling back out from under the bed. He lowers himself cautiously and looks under the bed. A familiar face gazes back out at him, but the strip of cloth drawn across her mouth makes his eyes widen.

    BOY
    Mommy!

The boy starts to reach under the bed, but his mother shakes her head, motioning for him to stop. She presses her hands, bound as well, in the direction of the toy box.

The boy takes the hint and begins to draw himself back out from under the bed. Before he has a chance to turn, he hears the out of place sound of something rummaging around the toy box.

    Reluctantly, he turns to look.

His favorite teddy bear, Mr. Snuggles, was leaning over the edge of the toy box. The furry two and a half foot tall bear shifted from side to side, obviously looking for something.

The boy is about to turn from the bear for his mother when it pulls a black and silver plastic hilt from the bin and extends a bright red shaft LIGHT SABER shaft in his direction. The bears plush face twitches into a grin, twisting the stitched mouth up in one corner.

The boy starts for the door. After a step he remembers his mother under the bed and dives for her in an attempt to pull her free.

Without a moments hesitation, she grabs from the dark recesses behind her another toy LIGHT SABER hilt and hands it to him. He resists at first, but the intensifying red glow coming from his right forces his hand.

He extracts himself from under the bed and rises to his feet. He presses a button, extending the bright green saber blade, ready to defend his mother against the evil teddy bear.

The boy ducks to one side, causing the first swipe from the bear to miss wide. The boy comes up swinging, forcing the bear to parry and take a step back. The boy rises to one knee, as the bear jumps to the adjoining toy box and somersaults towards him.

The boy draws the sword behind his head with both hands and drives it forward, striking at the bear with an over-handed axe blow. The force of the blow, coupled with the stuffed animals light weight, knocks the red light saber from its hand. The boy follows with a shoulder to its chest, pushing it onto its back.

He rises to both feet, saber raised again for a finishing blow, but the bear snatches a toy gun from the floor nearby and fires a volley of laser bursts. Quickly, the boy deflects the first few shots before returning the last shot back down the guns barrel. The gun erupts in sparks as the bear drops it.

The bear retracts its hand quickly and dashes after it’s light saber. It barely closes its paw around the hilt before the boy pins its hand down with his foot. He wrenches the sword handle free and tosses it away.

He scans the room, trying to determine his next move, when he spots the toy box and its lid resting against its side.

Grasping the bear by it’s sides, he hoists it into the air. The bear attempts to slap at his face, but each blow comes up about eight inches too short.

The boy forces it into the toy box face first and closes the lid on top of it. The toy box begins to buck from side to side, so the boy sits on top of it.

It continues for a moment or two, stopping a moment before the bedroom door opens briskly. The boys father steps through the opening and gapes at the floor of the room, now even more cluttered than before.

    BOY
    Da….
    FATHER
Stop. I don’t want to hear it. Just get this mess cleaned up.
The boy tries to start again, but his father cuts him off.

    FATHER
I’m not kidding, get this cleaned up!
The boy slumps his shoulders dejectedly as his father turns and walks off. He slides slowly from his toy box, then opens the lid. Inside, he finds the inanimate bear face down. Warily, he replaces the lid and turns to begin cleaning his room.

A creak in the floor to his right reawakens his senses and he spins, ready to fight.
    BOY
    Mom!
He runs over and gives her a big hug. Too large, it seems, as his mother is surprised by the gesture.

    MOM
    What’s this for?

The boy smiles before releasing his mother.

Together they leave the room. As they round the corner and take the first few steps down the stairs, a light thumping can be heard from the bedroom.

    INT. BOYS ROOM. NIGHT

A red glow seeps from under the lid of the toy box and the plastic snaps in the lid pop open.

    CUT TO BLACK

    THE END

Will do, I plan to upload it to all the video sharing sites.

Obviously, due to the pilfering of IP, I can't profit from it. LOL
