Wink Who likes Whammies?

My take on em' is ya' need some in yer' Hollywood movie. Who agrees?

Can anyone think of their favorite Whammies?

How about when "Clarice Starling" clicks on the Night Vision goggles and catches a fleeting glimpse of "Buffalo Bill"?

That's a dandy.

what exactly is a whammie?

In "Silence of the Lambs" I think it was buffalo bill who had the night vision goggles.

It's a term I heard a guy use that used to read scripts for a living, deciding which ones got sent up the chain.

A Whammie is a big, surprising moment. A shock.

I do agree, I think Whammies are very important. but can be over used in a movie.

i also like plot revealing ones, like twists.
What I like about those is that if there is one in a movie and it reveals something that you didn't notice before, it makes you want to watch it again, and it changes the way you watch it from then on. I cherish those moments when i watched a movie and i have no idea that the reason someone said something was because of foreshadowing a major event. or watching a movie with someone who doesn't know it's coming.
