    Describe a nebula - poetry or prose welcome

    what does this image make you feel like? How would you describe this? What kinds of poetry or prose does this inspire in you? Would you like to share any descriptions of this image?
    Why not write a nice little poem, right here, right now, about this beautiful nebula.

    What cosmic clouds swirl about;
    its lengthy arms astride?
    And recompence the void of death.
    The stars, the space, the signs.

    What astronomers drift in bits against
    the black and empty sky,
    or people left in misty ruts?
    The Earths, the wreck, their cries.

    What beauty shifts through the ink,
    and winks back into space,
    or drifts across the universe
    to reach us in our place?

    awesome, totally awesome. so appropriate for this particular nebula. I picked it simply because it is, as you imply in your poem, deathly and beautiful at the same time. what an eerie image. great work, and thanks for playing.
    and yeah, it really does seem to have arms.
    did you just write that?
    I'm impressed

    Yes, but it's extremely easy to describe nebulae... and they've always been floating about in my mind... kind of nebulous, I suppose.

    Radiation, sweet radiation
    crawling through my mind;
    like an amoeba, wide and wonderful.
    Work your membrane out the side,
    corelight streaming through my eye.
    Spreading out through endless skies;
    millions of years from my hands,
    perhaps fresh starlight burns through night,
    to take the earthen stage alight.

    Say, what is this light I see
    is it looking back at me
    am I to wonder out so far
    the starting of this glorious star

    Could I imagine colors turn
    shades of purple, depths of blue
    swirling, bursting on my sight
    the magic of a stars first light

    Show me now from which you glow
    draw me in and take me hold
    so great, so vast your beauty grows
    in this the void darkness knows.

    Okay Nacreous...I am not that big on Poetry but...there you are...my simple little contribution...hmmm....

    Skully dust spirals:
    sifting out of white sunset,
    twisting into birth.

    That's the best I have for it at the moment.

    nice. let me use some of the first two lines, eh?

    sifting smoky swirling spirals
    drifting slowly, twirl desires;
    blinding white of sunset death,
    etched in dusty final breaths.
    shall we share a foregone fate?
    all lost now - it is too late.

    hey, could someone other than me post a picture of their own, on a different thread in this area? What fun!

    For the first picture, and this is rough:

    The eldest dragon wrapped around
    the youngest gem of her collection
    burning, burning oh so bright
    the stars shining their collective wisdom
    upon the dragon's head.

    Dragon curled around
    the youngest sun
    of the universe
    Sheltering it from the harsh cold
    of nothingness
    Protecting it like it was her last egg
    Keeping it safe from harm,
    the last of its kind.

    I mean, come on, it *does* look like a dragon, right?
