    To be continued..

I thought an interesting thing to do would be to write a story together say I start and then put ... and someone else takes it from there and so on.

Hannah Scott sat in her car paralyzed with fright. Her hands gripped the steering wheel and she stared aimlessly out the foggy windsheild. She felt something warm and wet pouring down her face at an alarming rate. The thought occured to her that she was injured and perhaps she should try to find help but her body would not obey. She remembered her cell phone and willed her hand to reach for it but it seemed glued to the steering wheel. She couldn't remember what had happened, the last thing she knew she had been driving along without a care in the world.

Suddenly through the fog she saw the bright glare of headlights...

((Okay, I'll bite. Hope a POV switch is okay))

It had been an uneventful night of driving home from the in-laws' place, too uneventful. Jeff held grimly to the wheel, the window partially lowered to let in cool air to help keep him awake. Colleen slept soundly in the seat beside him, the bump of her pregnancy swelling over the seatbelt.

He didn't realize that he'd taken his eyes off of the road for an instant too long till he looked back at the misty moonlit strip of asphalt and it was filled with much too much car, all sideways and going nowhere.

Stepping hard on the brake brought it to a screeching, fishtailing halt six inches from the wrecked vehicle. He had to stop and just breathe for a moment, listening to the thunder of his heartbeat, knuckles white. He had a closeup view of misty droplets running down the other smashed car's windows...

Colleen now wide awake looked from her husband to the wrecked car just inches away. Her panic subsided when she noticed that neither of them was hurt but she felt the baby just to make sure. Oh, thank goodness there was a kick. The next thought that went through her head was the fate of the other car's driver. "Jeff, you go see if there's anyone in there I'll call 911 on my cell phone!" Colleen had always been more efficient at handling stressful situations than Jeff...

    "Yeah."

Jeff took a deep breath, pushed down his own reaction, and pulled himself from behind the wheel of his car.

In the glare of his headlights he could see that the silver Audi hadn't hit a tree as he'd first assumed. His shoes made a soft crunching sound on broken glass, probably from a headlight of the wrecked car. Jeff circled for a better look, the heavy mist dampening his hair and clinging cool to his neck.

The right quarter panel was smashed in, as though by a tap with a wrecking ball, but the left front of the car, the corner that rested nearest the trees wasn't damaged at all.

Maybe the car had hit and spun? Jeff wiped his forehead on his sleeve; he was still shaking from the near miss.

The headlights’ of Jeff’s car painted the inside of the wrecked one with surreal lights and shadows. When he bent to look in the driver’s window the lady inside was in silhouette.

“Hey,” Jeff said, knocking on the wet glass, “can you hear me? You okay?”

Betty was almost done with her shift when the phone rang. "911, how may I assist you?" she said in calm practiced tones. A woman's voice came through calm with a hint of persistence. "There's been an accident! We're about 10 miles out of town..." Suddenly there was a man's voice in the background. "...woman in there... trapped!" The woman listened to him for a moment before getting back on the line. "Can you tell me what road you're on?" Betty asked hoping she could, they had no way of tracking a cell phone. "Highway 290 south of town, send someone right away. There's a woman trapped in her car, it looks as if she's badly injured!"....

Jake rode his harley down the road towards the next town, he wanted to get away from his past, from all the bullshit that he had been caught up in.

He wore his Helmet and biking leathers and he raced through the cold night. He spotted some Cars on the side of the road It looked like it was an accident. Jake stopped his bike and got off it, he took off his helmet and approached the scene.

Jeff approached Jake and asked "Are you a Cop?"

"Do I look like a cop?" responded Jake "Whats going on?"

"There's been an accident." answered Jeff. "I think a lady is trapped in that Audi! She needs help."

"Ok. relax." said Jake calmly. He stepped up to the Audi. The car was badly damaged, Jake grabbed a nearby rock and smashed the rear window with it, he then opened the back door and looked at Hannah, he could see that she was trapped in the wreckage.

He was directly behind her seat and he told her "Hi I'm Jake. I am here to help you." but she did'nt respond.

"Fuck." muttered Jake. He could see The woman was in danger. and If he did anything too drastic he could make the situation worse...

Jeff hammered on the window to get the biker's attention.

"Pop the door lock!" He said, pointing.

Perhaps the two of them could get the door open, save some time for the emergency workers.

Speaking of which, where were the sirens? Lights? Anything?

"Where did you tell them we were?" Jeff finally asked his wife. "It's been at least 30 minutes since you called!"

"290 south about 10 miles out of town" she responded. "Why, I thought we were still on our way home?"

"Hell," Jake interupted. "We're nowhere near 290 south. This is 75 east!"

Jeff definitely had some explaining to do as to why he'd veered off course but now was not the time. "Does the phone still have any battery life?" Colleen shook her head dismally.

    "Dead!"

"How about you," Jeff turn to Jake. "Got a cell phone hidden somewhere?"....

Betty bit her lip and tapped her foot on the floor impatiently. It had been fifteen minutes since she'd gotten that last call. She should have been home already but there was something about that call. She stayed just to make sure Harold got there in time.

"Is Betty still there?" Harold's voice came over the CB.

Betty flew across the room and picked up the transmitor. "I'm here Harry, did you find them?"

"That's just it Betty, I've been out twenty miles on 290 south. No one's out here, are you sure this wasn't a prank call?"

"I'm sure! Please trust me on this one Harry maybe they got the road wrong, try another highway. I've got a feeling..."

Jake knew he probably didnt have much time to work with.. He dragged Jeff and Colleen over to their car, and lifted them both into the passenger seats, They were both dead to the world fast asleep. Jake did not want to encounter any cops, There was a warrant for his arrest and he had no intention of getting caught. However there was still the problem of the poor woman stuck in the Audi. He walked back to the Audi and looked At the woman, she didnt look well at all. He touched the door and the wrecked part if the vehicle with his hands. He then focused his mind and entered a trance like state..using his Psionic dicipline, He sent a powerful psionic energy into the wreckage and changed the molecules of the car. The power of this energy changed the damaged metal and plastic of the wreckage into a soft pliable plastic that had the texture of glad wrap. As soon as Jake had finished this process, he then awoke from his trance and started ripping apart the plastic substance and It came apart very easily. The woman was freed from the wreckage, but she was still suffering from severe internal injuries and was in a coma like state. Jake could use his psionic diciplines to try and heal her internal injuries, But If he made a mistake the woman would die instantly. He did not want to take the chance of killing her. He had to find another way to save her life!

((sorry for the invention of Jakes last name))

Adam leafed through the papers on his desk. The steaming cup of coffee in his hand was the only source of warmth in the tiny office. He was looking at the picture of a man, a felon by the name of Jake Harbridge. The details under the picture didn't point to anything. All he knew was that he was on the run and hadn't been seen for at least eight days straight.

"Hey, someone on the phone for you Ad."

He looked up and thanked the woman before picking up the handset.

    "This is Adam West."

He listened for a few moments before setting the reciever down with a sigh. He kneaded his temples with his knuckles. This was going to be a long night.

He stood and grabbed his jacket. He downed the rest of his coffee and walked out into the larger office.

    "Henry, come on."

Adam's assistant jumped up and pulled on his coat before following him out to the car.

    "Where to boss?"

"290 south, there was a car accident."

"What do they want with a couple of private investigators?"

    "We'll soon find out."

((It's something I wrote on impulse so sorry for the two new characters and the randomness of it... hehehe))
