Thread: Bandmates (RPG)

I've finally decided that I'll stop joining everyone else's RPs for a while because I've finally found the time to start my own!

Basically all characters are musicians, band members or solo artists, who are approached by a record company trying to make a new type of band that will break into all known categories of music. As such the bands future manager will go out and find talen in various music scenes (your characters).

The band is brought together and are given two weeks to make a revolutionary album. Obviously this is where we see if the band members will function together under pressure. After that first event live shows will be the call of the day. During live shows each band member will have to go into some detail on their part in it, no one just stands in the corner, even a moody bass player.

Ideally I'm looking for band to be made of both sexes, talented in different musical areas (tends to help) and I'd like a minimum of five people to become band members. Another ideal circumstance would be if everyone was able to either write the band's material (I'll pitch in with this but I'm not good at entire albums) or suggest changes to existing material to make it viable for a cover song.

Name: Joy Tyler
Stage Name (if applicable): Well most people call her around other people "my manger".
Age: 26
Musical talents: She's completely tone deaf, so thus she decided that she would be in charge of a band instead. (aka manager!)
Personality (off stage): She's kinda indifferent and very laid back. She an optimist who just lets life come as it may. Also if your in need she's there with the solution and more (aka, reliable and charitable!).
Personality (on stage): Over the top bossy and hot tempered. She attempts to keep strict control, but can sometimes be a push over.
Description: Her sandy blond hair is usualy tied into a loos ponytail and she has stunning ice blue eyes. She is usualy wearing unprofesional clothing (Tight jeens and a t-shirt). She has no peircings and the only tatoo found on her boody is a small bar code on her neck. When she is at home she is always wearing Pajama pants and big fluffy slipers.
Music/Personal history: Her teen age dream of being the lead singer in a rock band failed at 16 when her garage band booted her because of her crappy singing. Her dream was crushed, so she decided to manage a band instead; that way she couldn't get kicked out.... as easily. She has managed many successful bands even though she is young.

I've got a question for you Nefieslab...are you trying to actually compose songs? Or what?

well just the lyrics really. it would be quite hard to find people who could RP composing songs other than for the RP.

Name: Curt O'Reily
Age: 25
Musical talents: Lead guitar, acoustic and electric…also the bagpipes and a little singing on the side.
Personality (off stage): Life of the party, maybe a little arrogant, and a fan of drug abuse (every band has one)

Music/Personal history: Born and raised in Boston’s Southie Projects, Curt began to play the guitar while killing time at his dad’s barbershop. In high school his dad passed away leaving the shop to his only child, Curt. With an aging mother to take care of Curt took over the barbershop, dropping out of school. The shop soon became a refuge for punk rockers from all over Boston. Curt was the go-to guy for any punk hair styling, he also sold local bands merch and c-ds out of the back of the shop. Becoming a local legend Curt formed a band that practiced at night in the basement of the barbershop; they were soon playing gigs almost nightly. Curt began binge drinking and taking drugs before, during and after shows around this point. Many people saw that Curt had a special talent, his singing and guitar playing could make a room full of corpses sing, dance and drink until the wee hours.

Curt is very proud of his Irish-American ancestry and his style reflects this, when his mother passed she told him never to let go of his roots. He still owns the barbershop which he renamed from ‘Flannigan’s’ to ‘Flannigan and son’. Still a haven for the Boston punk movement, Curt no longer cuts hair himself; he has hired a few local hairdressers to do the dirty work while he runs the shop. Curt’s band, renamed many times over, is currently known as ‘The South Boston Brawlers’ (SBB) and tours extensively in North America and has made a hit in Japan (though they have yet to play in Japan). Curt is deathly afraid of flying and has only done it once to visit Ireland in his youth, before his father passed.
Description: Curt is just shy of six feet tall, and has the physique that is expected from a drug using rock star. He is lean, and his tattoo covered skin is tight to his thin muscular frame. Curt’s light brown hair is kept short to his scalp, he claims that way he won’t rip it out; his facial hair, on the other hand, seems to be in a permanent stage unkempt. Curt is generally clad in standard punk garb, large black boots with green laces, tight black jeans covered in patches and a tight wife-beater. When out of the house Curt wears a worn and studded black leather jacket, embroidered on the back are the letters SBB inside of a clover, a logo also printed on the black handkerchief draped from his back pocket. Suspenders hang limply off of his spiked belt and his wallet chain jingles quietly when he walks, however sounds this is generally muted by the thud of his thick boots.

Age: 23
Physical Description: Has shaggy black hair, piercing ice blue eyes and is about 6ft.
Other (just thought I'd add this): Has a tattoo on his right arm with the words "Lead for life"
Musical talents: Electric guitar
Personality (off stage): Laid back, is really friendly and is a practical joker
Personality (on stage): Much like Angus Young from AC/DC
Music/Personal history: Lead guitarist of three big metal bands; "Black Blossom", "Eternal Night" and "Nine O'Clock News" Robbie has had his share of fame. He has tried a solo career, but it didn't work, so he came back into the band circuit. With his new band, he hopes that his career as a guitarist can reach new heights.

Yay! I can have a sharacter now that Mi is the manager! In case you're wondering John will be singer/song writer while being the rhythem guitarist.

Name: John Baptise

Stage Name (if applicable): The Baptist

Age: 19

Musical talents: John can play almost any instrument and as such is seen as a song writer. His favourite positions in a band are actually Lead singer and rhythem guitarist.

Personality (off stage): Offstage John is calm and collected, often found writing new songs when the other band members are having parties. He jokes a lot and is one of the few good musicians who doesn't believe in suffering for his music. He hates all drugs, he drinks very little and he only smokes when he is writing new material. Like Izzy from GNR.

Personality (on stage): John has already made a large splash as a heavy rocker, once destroying a total of five guitars in one show, each in more inventive ways than the last. On stage he is seen as an angry person but the truth is the opposite. One reporter stated that during heavier song John acted like he was possesed by Satan. John said that Satan was just a tenant.

Music/Personal history: John first appeared on the music scene when he formed a Nu Metal band and was signed by a small label. He went touring with his band in the only place they'd been popular, Sweeden. Although British by birth John moved to the US to further his musical career. When Joy Tyler started showing an interest he began to right new songs again in hopes of being picked up.

Description: John has dark brown hair that just covers his left eye and hides his ears completely. He is tall, about six foot three, and has taken to working out for half an hour every morning since he was ten. He usually wears normal, off-the-rack, clothes, even when he's on stage. He has most recently recieved a scar across the full length of his chest when a crazed fan jumped onto the stage with a knife three months ago.

If anyone else wants in be sure to state what role in the band you're character will fulfil.

Stage Name (if applicable): Loki/Wolf, Due to her ability to be either completely phyco or act as part of the team.
Age: 18
Musical talents: She can play almost anything but her main tallent is singing.
Personality (off stage): her personalitity never stays the same, one minute she could be bouncing off the wall the next she can be in a deep moody, don't piss me off kinda mood.
Personality (on stage): Chaotic, or working with the group, depending on the style of music.
Music/Personal history: She was brought up in a poor family, her father being a guitarist and her mother a music teacher. She grew up being incouraged to learn different instruments. Whenever she could find the cash she'd by herself a new instrument, but always found she enjoyed singing the most.
Description: Zandra is farely small only standing at 5'6, she had long black hair with a bright red streak through it. When she's around home she tends to wear very concealing clothes, not likeing to show off her body, where as onstage she is quite often found wearing mini skirts, midrift low cut tops and Knee high black boots.

Name: Jazzmine Perth
Stage Name (if applicable): Has none
Age: 17
Musical talents: synths, keyboards
Personality (off stage): She loves to be calm, cool and collected, however she comes off as being distant, and uninterested in the surrounding events. However on the off chance that you impress her, then you can talk to her, without the "Why are you still here?" attitude.
Personality (on stage): She tends to ignore the crowd, do her part, show herself off as her talents rather then a pretty face. Her motto is that the crowd should support the music not just because you look cool, but because the music is cool.
Music/Personal history: She hasn't had alot of music practice, she learned her talents from an old kneighbour, hoping that she would be able to play along his son in their band, but that dream blew up when the boy left for Austrailia to live. She continued on learning and joined an all girls band at 14, for a year they played some gigs at important events that threw every band a bone, but she found herself growing sick of the stupid dance music they produced and quit.
Searching she placed videos of herself and her talent on youtube hoping to find that some people would be interested in her style of music.

Jazzmine has jet-black choppy hair, her skin is as white as a china doll, a sharp hooked nose, has a pointed chin and has high cheekbones. Jazzmine usually wears. Wears a black skirt with striped leggins underneath, she wears doll shoes and usually wears a band tee.

Kast, I can change Robbie to electric guitarist if you want to be the lead.

I want to be lead, but that doesn't mean we can't have two leads, if you want it too, then we both can! Its not like that has never happened before in music.
