John smiled fratefully at Heather when she was done,
"Its a great big world out there Heather... I've seen some of it but I'm glad you're with me to see the rest." he picked Heather up, his arms under her knees and on her back and stepped out onto the ledge. He slowly lowered her onto the ivy, half way down the wall. When he was sure she was safe he whistled and Jasper shook his head in aknowledgement. John waited until Heather had reached the bottom before quickly climbing down after her,
"We'll take Jasper alright? You want to get the sadle?"

Heather's views on him changed immediately. She could tell he'd never been so gentle and kind towards someone all of a sudden, just by the way he was acting. He'd saved it for someone, and it might just be her. She didn't know what to think as he communicated with Jasper in such a way. She'd always been the only one who could really communicate with Jasper, but now here's John doing the same thing. This was proof that she really wasn't as alone as she felt. Smiling, she went and got the saddle as John stroked Jasper's nose.
"John," she said uneasily as she approached them both, "how are we going to take care of ourselves and Jasper as well? I know aunt and uncle are perfectly capable of doing chores themselves but...where will we go? I don't want Jasper to starve or get hurt, John." she said the last sentence with her eyes filled with utter seriousness. Jasper was her best friend, and she cared for him greatly.

    John looked at her steadily,
"i promise you Heather that niether of you two will ever starv while I'm around." he smiled, "I'd do any job to make sure that was the way it stayed."
He put the saddle on Jasper and scratched the great horse behind the ears before climbing up. He held out a hand for Heather.

(sorry it's taken me awhile to post..)

Heather decided it was best to turn her rational brain off, because she knew that would most likely talk her out of it. She had to listen to her heart, not her head. She took his hand, seating herself behind him and wrapping her arms around his waist. She kept the knapsack safely in her lap, since it wasn't all that big. Heather's right mind was completely turned off, and she was only living in the moment. It was probably much better that way too.

John smiled warmly to himself when he felt Heather's arms slip around his waist. It felt... right. He smiled and turned his head to look at her, gazing into her eyes,
"I never did thank you for choosing to come with me." he leaned backwards rather awkwardly and kissed her lightly on the cheek, "It means a lot to me."

Heather felt a blush slowly spread across her cheeks. She still felt shyness around him, but hopefully that would be gone soon since they would become closer as time passed. She was grateful as he snapped the reigns and they rode away. The sooner she could get away from here the better, and she didn't want to wake up her ever so loving aunt and uncle. She felt like she was inside him, deep inside away from his rough edges. She felt his core was softer than that, but probably decently raw from all the things he felt. Heather herself wasn't raw, just slightly numb. But John had more passion than that. She took in the scent of his as she drew her face closer, savoring the wonderful uniqueness about the smell. It was for her now. She drew her arms tighter for a moment as they rode, practically hugging him. She then loosened and admired the sky as she always did. Everything felt so right now, thought it wasn't perfect. Deep inside Heather was the lingering fear she always posessed, even though she'd never been this close to someone. She didn't want to lose him now that she had him. She pushed this away, deciding she would live in the moment now. If she ever did lose him, it would make things less painful.
'No, that won't happen. I won't lose him' she thought to herself, taking in the smells and sights of the night.

John smiled when Heather tighted her grib around his waist. He continued to smile all the way along the dirt road he had led them onto until they could see a small town in the distance. John stopped Jasper and turned to Heather,
"Its almost night... do you want to lodge in the town?"

    (I think you meant "light")

Heather considered this. The sun would be rising soon and Jasper probably would want rest soon. He wasn't used to traveling very long distances, and she didn't want to overwork him. She herself would probably be getting hungry soon...she wondered about John.
"what do you think?" she asked.

John smiled and looked back at her,
"It doesn't matter what I think. Its about what you think, thats what being in love is about." He scratched Jasper behind the ears again, calming the horse when he started to toss his mane.

She sighed, looking into the horizon.
"No," she suddenly corrected him, "love is about being one. Which means we make the choice together...and get to know eachother in general a little better." she smiled at his secretly sweet nature, for herself only. She absentmindedly patted Jasper's flanks behind her.

    John smiled a little,
"Well I'm prepared to sleep anywhere but I won't have you sleeping just anywhere." he turned in the saddle and smiled at her, "I think we should get ourselves a room... or two."
He blushed when he realised he'd only mentioned one room and when he realised he was blushing he turned away.

"nonsense." Heather said, whispering for some reason as Jasper slowly trotted towards the village.
"We can find some place in the woods to sleep perhaps. Jasper wouldn't mind it, and neither would I. We shouldn't risk being seen just yet." she wouldn't mind sitting with him somewhere, anywhere, and just get to know him better.

John frowned slightly but made Jasper go through the back routes of the village until they were clear of the village all together. He jumped off and led Jasper down a small slope, hiden by the branches and leaves of dozens of trees. At the bottom of the slope was a small pool of water, its surface barely moving. John smiled and held out his hand to help Heather down,
"Is this place good enough miss?"

She laughed slightly at this playful formality.
"Wonderful." she said, thinking that it was warm enough to dip her feet in. Jasper could get a drink as well.
"John, maybe you should get some sleep." she said thoughtfully as she dismounted Jasper as they reached the area around the small body of water.
