    Elemental RPG

    Intro Post:

Excerpt from transmission between United States of America Air Force One and United States Air Force Facility 169, November 9, 2219:

As you undoubtedly know by this point, your facility has been created as a direct response to an underground threat recently discovered by military intelligence. An organisation, with a leadership hierarchy yet to be identified, is taking steps towards a project which could have dire repercussions worldwide. From the small amount of data which has been gathered, they have several laboratories in place. Within these they have the ability to create, or, as some speculate, have already created, specimens with capabilities beyond anything previously believed possible.

It is important that we set in place measures to contain this threat. Our primary purpose must be to capture as many of these specimens as possible, preferably with the goal of utilising their abilities for our own purposes.

However, we do not know the full extent of these creatures’ abilities, and therefore we have no knowledge of how to contain them. While this is your initial purpose, it may eventually prove impossible. As a result, a significant effort will still be dedicated to locating all of the enemy production facilities, so that, in the worst case scenario where the specimens’ abilities prove unstoppable, we can still destroy our enemy’s greatest weapon before it is unleased upon the world.

Excerpt from transmission between United States of America Air Force One and United States Air Force Facility 169, July 6, 2221:

It is thankful that the major breakthrough in suppressing the abilities of these abominations has come now, thanks to your facility’s tireless efforts. A team of four of these creatures, self titled the ‘Midas Myrmidons’, has been discovered by the Egyptians, and the framework is in place for the United Nations to auction their services to nations requiring them. This is obviously an undesirable outcome, as this assault humanity, by yet unknown forces should surely be hidden, not paraded as a blessing.

Unfortunately, this may be our best hope of containing certain rebellious elements in the Middle East, as a single member of this team may be more effective than an entire squad on the battlefield. Therefore, your facility is essential in investigating how these abilities may be utilised without the genetic tampering which is currently required.

The obvious course of action is to take this new group directly into custody along with the specimens already contained; however, this may prove difficult judging by the general worldwide reaction. As for a more covert approach, as the team is not always sent as a group, and it will be impossible to secure the service of all four until late this year.

We have created a contract for their services beginning December 15, and this is the date by which your facility must be prepared to apprehend them. They will be sent to an old manufacturing plant near your location, and there it will be your responsibility to capture them, and contain them with the other specimens. They can then be studied, and used as further pieces of the puzzle of their containment on the battlefield.

This is an essential step towards the defeat of the true criminals hidden somewhere on this world, those who created these abominations. Though they know it not, you carry the hopes of every person that respects humanity on this planet.

Incident report letter sent by the President of the United States of America to the United Nations Security Council:

Undoubtedly, each of the members of this council is aware that the Midas Myrmidons were recently contracted into the employ of the United States of America Air Force, and stationed at a facility in the Middle East. During this time, to aid in building ties between our forces and the group prior to the major planned operation, they were sent with a patrol group to examine a nearby closed down manufacturing plant. Intelligence had reported suspected rebellious activity in the area.

The little we know is based on reports from the survivors from the patrol. It appears they were ambushed, and the Myrmidons shot with some sort of dart, apparently neutralising the group’s abilities. Although they realised this was the case, the Myrmidons continued to fight, and two of them were killed in action. These bodies are being returned to the United Nations for any required examinations. The remaining two, designated ‘Phoenix’ and ‘Minotaur’, were captured by the rebels. As the patrol team were pinned down by suppressing fire, they were unable to pursue the captors until such time as the assailants were untraceable.

It is with much regret that I write of these events, as these Myrmidons were undoubtedly a great step along the path towards restoring peace, in the various regions around the world overrun by conflict. However, my advisors have convinced me that it would be unwise to invest efforts in replicating these soldiers. The major reason for this is that it has now been shown that rebel elements have the technology at their disposal to counter these soldiers, completely negating their battlefield advantage. Therefore, I must implore all member nations of this council to follow our lead, and pursue technological advances that are not already useless on the battlefield, so that one day we may stand a chance of uniting the world in peace.

The American Air force base 169 was designed for the soul purpose of containing a group of people who in their minds shouldn’t be classed as humans.
For these ‘specimens’ there are three assessable area’s. The training facility, the mess hall and the sleeping quarters.
The training facility is basically it’s own little land, at one end there is a mass of water with small islands dotted throughout it, at the edge of the water there is a small beach followed by rock and dirt. To one side is a fenced area with old 21st century military equipment. ON the other side is a small forest. At the far end of the area there is an old ice skating ring.
These area’s allow the specimens to practice there abilities under the close watch of multiple guards.
The mess hall is a small room, with four tables each sitting four people, allowing the guards to keep a close watch on all of the specimens.
The final area is the sleeping quarters this is divided into 14 individual rooms, one for each of the 12 specimens. At the end of this hall is a completely neutral room, which is fitted with state of the art security systems, this allows the specimens to be monitored for scientific reasons. The room contains four lounges that sit 3 people each.
Please note: Your characters are unable to use there abilities at the start due to neutralisers administered by the guards. This is for character developments (please use it, and develop some sort of bonds with other characters) and we will escape the base at a point Tsaeb and I choose or you guys riot. Your character has free rein of the base except for the mess hall which will only be open at certain times, or your character is called for and individual observation (these will be decided by Tsaeb and myself)

Any changes will be made in the other thread (http://www.writingforums.com/writing-challenge/88183-elemental-military-rpg.html ) This thread will now become our Affairs thread so anything that doesn’t have to do with the storyline should be brought up in here.

you smart ass. okay lets start this

Phoenix woke up, sitting up slowly she rested her head in her hands. The dull walls of her room, she could hear some of the others stiring, or at least thats what she thought she could hear. Standing up slowly she streached, pulling on another shirt she walked outside.

The halls were deserted, but she had the feeling that Minotaur was roaming around here somewhere and it would just be a matter of time til he came to find her.

Typos are very important to all written form. It gives the reader something to look for so they aren't distracted by the total lack of content in your writing.

Meanwhile, Lily sat in her usual area in the training ground. People walked past her as though they were hearded. She realy did hate this place. There was no extream risk and she was growing tired breaking in to the cabinits in the kitchen. She some excitment, or else she would go insane.
Throwing back her mane of hair, she stood up and walked into the group of "cattle" with such a sour look on her face that a few people moved away.

Tres's intro (sorry if a little long)

Two guards pause before a steel door.

    “Are you sure-

“Yes, for the fourth time, I’m sure. She was hit square by that neutralizer dart.”

“But before she was hit she…she…” the man’s breathing is nervous, raspy, “Did you SEE what she did to them?”

“She was hit by the dart. The neutralizing agent will last for a long while yet.”

But now the second man’s voice is uneasy and his hand touches the sidearm and the hypodermic at his belt.

    “But how can you know?”

They stand and listen. There is no sound whatever from within.

“Shut up, you pansy, and let’s just get her out with the others, okay?”

    ***

Tres lay on a narrow cot in the solitary holding cell, her wrists and ankles manacled. She had been awake for too long struggling with the restraints, even screaming at the futility of knowing that she could free herself if it weren’t for that stupid pinprick they’d given her…

The sudden flood of light made her wince as it poured through the opening doorway. Her eyes watered and she turned away, shutting them.

Two men. One scuffled when he walked the other with a measured heavy tread. Someone was wheezing a bit. She smelled concrete dust, oil, and fear. Fear seemed to permeate the walls of the room and hit her in almost palpable waves from the men.

She smiled faintly at that, opening her eyes a slit, allowing them to adjust, noting how the traceries of silvery metal embedded in her arm glowed in the new light like rivers through deltas of sand.

“C’mon, Princess.” A rough man’s voice accompanied a knee depressing the edge of the cot. Rough fingers grasped her chin, turning her face toward him. “You’ll come along with us quiet-like, okay?”

She looked at him silently. A tallish man, impressive physique, bullying manner.

    He shook her chin.

    “Okay?”

She settled for something near a nod, blinking her eyes slowly once. Acquiesce.

He grunted in annoyance and unlocked the manacles one at a time. The other one stood well back, she noted.

When the last click announced her freedom, Tres sat up, swinging her legs over the edge of the bed. She felt stiff and very hungry. Obviously she was under the influence of some damned drug or other.

She looked at the frightened man. Still…

Tres lunged, hitting the frightened guard just over his breastbone with both hands, driving him against the wall. His eyes were huge, mouth open as she thrust her face close to his.

“Boo.” She said, staring him in the eye.

Just as her knee hammered into his crotch she felt something sting her neck. And as he doubled forward she slipped down, falling, and carrying him with her.

When Tres woke again it was to rain pelting her where she lay on concrete. She sat up, looking at the glowing window above her. Dragging herself to her feet she woozily remembered what had happened before unconsciousness and she grinned. A guard tower stood above her at the edge of a wall. She waved at it.

Tres braced herself against the wall and tried to take stock...

((Tres is in one of the open areas of the compound where she has been let loose with the others. They’re probably under shelter but maybe someone can approach her?))

sorry i didn't make it clear, Courtney, and most likely Azraal are both in the sleeping quaters. But they have been there longer than the others. Your character is welcome to be in any of the area's mentioned in the first post, doing whatever. nice intro btw foxee.

As usual, Aaron was pacing up and down in his room, still wearing those army fatigues that he was found in. But, he was quite the perfectionist; his boots were always shined, his bed was always made, his clothes were always tidy and pressed. After he went through this routine, the boredom set in. It was always like this. He glanced at his watch and decided to go for a walk to the training ground, to see if he could make contact with anyone there.

He left the safety of his room, and walked towards the training ground. As he approached, he saw a girl sitting on the floor. "Maybe I could talk to her?..." he thought to himself, as he got closer to her.

    Minataur? Anway.

    ---
Ace stared at the ceiling with a dry throat. A sink not more than ten feet away remained at his disposal. Yet a mix of his own drowsiness, and the neutralizers administered by those damn guards drowned out his will.

His eyes, he could only guess, were red and dreary. Ace had not a wink of sleep last night. The beds were that bad; springy and stiff. Sounds of movement came from rooms that were nearby. The others were waking.

“Damn them and their peaceful dreams.” Ace growled to himself moodily.

A white uniform hung neatly over his bed-frame, the place must have provided it for him. He had no other clothes and he never remembered wearing clothes, but he knew they were clothes. Ace knew a lot of things and he didn’t know why, and that thought alone could have kept him up all night.

Damn this gay lag...stupid internet conection, i just lost my entire work...and that was like 2 pargraphs and a bit.

The door opened. In elegantly paced Ariane, it was more like "remain calm, and you won't snap the get shot by guards" kind of pace. She continued on until she reached the cleverly simulated beach. She stared at it, then took notice of the plastic wall where the water was stoped. She turned back around and entered a small group of people.
There was Lily, with a sour toned look upon her face.

    Hope this is okay.

Willow was sketching. The lake stretched out before her, shimmering blue, perforated by humps of craggy, weather beaten rock, and surrounded by golden sands that the water lapped at gently. A perfect landscape.

Her hand moved feverishly over the sheet of paper held on her lap, the pencil getting rapidly blunter as she shaded and cross-hatched. It a standard pencil, not very dark, but good enough for a sketch. She wished for more, for oils, acrylics, charcoal, chalk, pastels … things she knew she could use, though she was sure she’d never seen one close up before.

Where this desire, this need to draw came from, she had no idea. It had suddenly welled up within her when she saw two guards with clipboards and pencil. She saw the pencil, the clean white paper and she was overwhelmed. Some wheedling, promises, temper tantrums and eyelash fluttering later, she had a few sheets of plain paper and a single pencil. They wouldn’t last her long, but they contented her for now.

Sketching was the only thing that kept her sane here. The dizziness, the tiredness that came with whatever drug they were being given faded away when she put pencil to paper. The anger that burned inside, that made her want to launch herself at the guards, to scream and shout and hurls things fizzled away to a tiny smouldering ember.

She needed to control her emotions. She’d lost her temper more than once and it hadn’t ended well; strapped down, struggling and writhing, the sharp pin prick of a needle, and then the black abyss of unconsciousness.

Sketching kept that from happening again. So she drew.

An odd sensation… he pressed his hand on a touch-screen implanted in the wall and frowned as it scanned his DNA. A feeling of tiny static shocks played onto his palm as the green panel gleamed intensely. When he removed his hand from the screen, it dimmed and displayed a tiny message: Cleared, Ace Wood.

There was a click and a tame hissing sound before his door slid open; he walked outside. The white uniform fitted smugly around his body featuring a blue logo that read American Base 169. He turned his head one way to see more doors sprawl further down the hallway, they each had similar touch panels in the nearest wall space. The hallway eventually ended in that direction, so he went opposite.

Whatever chemicals the guards treated him with were slowly wearing off, and ever so gradually, he was beginning to feel the anger coursing through his body. It was always there, but he had not been wary of it. Something like real emotions were coming back to him. He cursed the guards for whatever else they injected into his blood stream.

Curse them for all they've done. Curse them.

Ace felt his hatred for this place boiling up inside. To think that he was the animal, with men prodding him and treating him like dirt. Teasing him with drugs, and using methods of brute force to insure his imprisonment. They were the animals! All of this ill treatment because he could play a little with the wind?

The wind. Ace could feel his energy bonding with it yet again. He snapped his fingers and instinctively saw the little details change in the air. Soon it would be his to command. That thought made him smile.

The hall eventually led him to a training facility. He walked inside, and saw a stunning display of ocean. A closer look also indicated that there was a forest and an ice rink. The whole area was pretty big and easy to get lost in. But it wasn't the real thing, it wasn't the same. It was kind of like him.

A confused looking girl, who was desperately penciling things onto some sheets of paper, caught the corner of his eye amongst a man and two other woman. Ace walked up to her and observed her drawing, which seemed like a very detailed representation of the training facility.

"Don't let them get to your head," he said with a smile, and saw the fear running through her eyes.

Seth jumped as another guard walked past him near the back of the training centre. the past few days he had seemed to jump at almost any thing. even the smallest little insects. it must be the drugs he thought.

seth stood up and walked over to the water dispenser at the front of the training ground. he picked up a plastic cup, and filled it with water. he stared at it, confused, as the water seemed to almost evaporate in front of him. then the cup started to melt. my powers, he thought, they said something about being able to accelerate particles. that must mean i can change the state of matter. he stared at the puddle of plastic. tried to pick it up, but it slipped through his fingers. sweet he thought, i'm starting to enjoy this, if i could escape.

he stood and walked over to the lake, and sat down with his feet in the water, waiting for something exciting to happen...

Man does he have some nerve, Lily May Bale thought as some idiot walked towards her. They were all produce in her eyes. After being druged they were all as sober as a preist. No one of them, she belived, were willing to rebel like she was planning to do.
Despite her dirty looks, the guy marched his shiny boots over to her. He either an idiot, or maybe he were just realy brave. She glowered at him and said hottily, "What do you want?!"
She knew he should't be the victum of her bad mood, but the lack of freedom and action was makeing her furious.
