Ok, so we have--or most of use have--written Iambic verse, but here's a challenge: write a sapphic stanza and post it below.
It goes like this:
Author's Note:
Iamb = xX (short/long)
Trochee = Xx (long/short)
Dactyl = Xxx (long/short/short)
Spondee = XX (long/long) ------syllables
Lines:--------meters:
1-------------.Xx----Xx----Xxx----Xx----Xx
2--------------Xx----Xx----Xxx----Xx----Xx
3--------------Xx----Xx----Xxx----Xx----Xx
4--------------Xxx--.Xx
These lines are, of course, a falling meter. In the diagram above, a capital "X" stands for a STRESSED syllable and a lowercase "x" stands for an unstressed one. A spondee (two stressed syllables) may be substituted in lines one and two, on the second and fifth metrical foot; and in line three, foot five.
_______________________________-Example:
Hope
Fleeting, dying slowly, and living shortly
stands in my way, boasting and proudly dancing,
dancing, dancing on my dream of being--ah
strangely a poet!

Autumn
Come dawn, autumn draws in its golden crimsons,
Dreaming fondly full of the winding pleasures
One finds while wondering midst the wood's
Wondrous underbrush.
