    Unbound

WTH, I'm bored, and there's usually not enough action going on upstairs to distract me from writing...uh, I mean, allow me to engage in serious discussions on the art and science of lit'ra'cha.

So how about we try something different?

The multi-verse is collapsing. An infinite number of parallel worlds are colliding. Dinosaurs have been spotted in Central Park. UFOs are dropping off dry-cleaning in Butte. Mississippians and Alabamians are considering each other pretty good folks.

And someone, or something, behind the scenes of reality, is desperately attempting to keep the entirety of creation from falling apart.

The excrement has hit the rotating blades of an air motion stimulator.

    Welcome to
    Unbound.

Basically, this is an RPG with (almost) no rules. Make any sort of character you want. Vampire? Cool. Werewolf? Whatever. Alien? Awesome. Barbarian from the Frozen Northlands? Why not? Sad teenaged girl with imaginary poltergeist best friend? Now you're getting it! Flying monkey from the Wizard Of Oz? Ha. You, I like, kid. Feel free to have more than one character.

Play any style you want. Gritty action, emotional melodrama, super-hero slug fest, SFnal dystopia, High Fantasy...whatever.

Because I, your trusty GM, will be that someone or something behind the walls of reality, stitching the narrative together. I'll do this with interstitial posts and off-the-cuff created (and probably disposed of) NPCs.

And I have a plan. I just don't know what it is yet. That's kind of up to you.

This is free-form. This is on the fly. This is pure creativity unleashed, an attempt to stitch sense together from chaos.

    This will be fun.

    There are a few rules:

    1) All forum rules apply, of course. See the sticky at the top of this board.

    2) My decisions are final. And probably weird.

    3) Have a sense of humor.

What, really, do you have to lose?

I'll be up for it. I just need a while to parse out a character.

I'm thinking Thor's hammer (mjolliner) personified as a woman of Irish descent that goes by Molly. She plays guitar, waitresses, and is on a roller derby team.

Nope. Do it in whatever format you want, at as great or little length as you want.

I come from a D&D background so for me that includes a set of rules and a background story.

How do you impose rules on chaos? If you need rules for character creation, choose your own.

    Like I said: something different.

That's the spirit. Remember -- every player's character comes from a different universe. That their character profiles would be different sort of makes sense. Haha.

Heck, feel free to do it up in complete D&D style with ST, CON, DEX, Armor Class, HP whatever. Whatever helps YOU create the character in your mind. I played D&D for years, from 2nd Ed. on. I even had a photocopied version of the original, when the characters were called Fighting Man, etc. and Dwarf and Elf were classes instead of races.

    Mjollinir "Molly O'Byrne"

23 years old. *Old enough to buy her own booze but not so old the "new" has worn off on it or so young that it's still exciting.

Female. *In "her" reality she's actually a hammer. *So, yeah.

She's short. *Stands about 5 feet tall and weighs more than she looks to weigh--about 145 lbs. *Molly has pale skin that's freckled, shoulder-length brown hair, and blue eyes. *She has a bubblegum mouth in that she's always chewing (and snapping) gum and that her lips are pink.

Fairly mischievous and always has a one liner. *Has a crush on the UPS delivery guy but doesn't think he'd ever be interested in her. *She likes to play the tough girl and is on a roller derby team. *She works as a waitress at a local diner and plays guitar. *She's usually pretty upbeat but has a bad temper when crossed.

Mjollinir is Thor's hammer. *Literally the personification of a mystical hammer that only the Norse god of thunder can wield. *As a person her parents are Thora and Jack O'Byrne. *She has three brothers, two older than her and one younger. *Her parents were kind of hippies and raised goats. *Her brothers taught her to be "tough."

Mjollinir carries as weapons two ball-peen hammers with her in her "purse"--a black and neon blue backpack. *She's a techno junkie and carries her iPod with her everywhere. *Her iPod was a gift from her parents and is treated with great respect. * She also keeps a pack of bubblicious gum in original flavor in her bag as well as her roller skates--which are her main form of transportation. *When not training for roller derby, working, or playing guitar Molly is reading up on old legends and mythology from around the world.

    Molly's Theme Song:

(Everybody gets a theme song. I just decided.)

I'm up for it. It sounds chaotic and fun.

I'll be an 100 yr. old ent who has a major anger problems when things don't go his way and who fears the undead. He has no real name. He hates fire, especially if theres any anywhere near him. He also has the ability to communicate with plants/vegetation. [this is actually a character I play in another RPG although he's slightly modified(I know. Call me uncreative )].

    I like it, Leyline.

And an ent sounds like fun.

Count me in! I've got a soft hearted twelve-year old sweetheart who likes cute boys and rocket launchers.

You don't want to get her mad. She blows stuff up. But she's still a bundle of fluffy bunnies inside. Fluffy, exploding bunnies.

I think the campaign's theme song is "Cracks" by the freestylers featuring Belle Humble. The flux pavilion remix.
