    Handlebars ((OOC))

    I've had this RP planned for over a year now. I was never able to get enough people interested in it though. It wasn't originally 100% mine. A friend and I worked together on it. He has since quit RPing and given me full rights to everything to do with it.
    I'd like to get this finally started. But....well, to be frank, it doesn't seem likely with how (un)active this RP forum is. But it's worth a shot.

    (best read while listening to the song)
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    "I hold strong to my convictions, the world will be unified. Peace is my destination, and prosperity the means."-Nicholas Kevendez, the taking of South America.
    Humanity has always had a passion for self-destruction. Constantly, the power-hungry leeches known as mankind have torn apart the world that was given to them. Wars are fought over spilled salt, murders and assassinations are committed daily. Brother against brother, husband against wife, father against son, the wretches of Earth know absolutely no boundaries. Always, they seek an end to the chaos that is life. The atomic bomb was a step in the right direction, and nuclear warfare a proverbial leap towards the mass suicide they crave. But soon after that, humanity would discover their greatest weapon, the sharpest blade with which they can slice their own neck.
    Peace.
    In the year 2012, China, North Korea, and Cuba formed an alliance called the International Communism Pact. The manpower of China combined with the strict regime of Korea proved to be a near-unstoppable force. Add to the mix a large oil reserve found on Cuban soil, and the three countries had the funds and resources necessary to take the world. In retaliation, Europe accelerated the movement of a single, unified European land. Breaking down the legal boundaries of the countries, Europe became a single entity, with its mission being peace and freedom for the entire world. At its head was Nicholas Kevendez, a Russian man who was elected as Europe’s first president. The United States of America allied themselves with this new superpower, and the third World War was fought. The European Alliance fought against the Communism Pact, and won. Millions of lives were lost, and damage was almost irreparable, but freedom’s light could finally be seen.
    Soon after the war, The United States, Canada, Central America, and finally Asia joined the European Alliance, and the name was changed. The Planetary Alliance was the symbol of capitalism, freedom, and democracy in the New World. With Kevendez at its head, people began to put an end to racism, attacks, and prejudice, truly creating a peace on Earth.
    However, South America remained defiant. They refused the idea of a one-world order, believing that to create such a power is to manifest socialism. Despite the Europe’s repeated attempts at offering South America a place in the alliance, they continuously refused.
    Kevendez stepped forward. Persuading the Parliament behind his rein to temporarily suspend civil liberties for the greater good, he became the single leader of Earth. Using the vast armies and resources at his disposal, he took South America, forcing it into the alliance. Within a fortnight, he seized control of the Alliance’s armies, forcing them to defend his power. The world was his.
    Long live democracy.
    Rebellions began, but Kevendez and his unified army ended them before any action could be carried out. Within a year, his strength was solid enough for the illusion of an alliance to fade. The world became his empire, and every person his subject. Still, there was a group who dared to dream of a life all their own. They alone saw the madness in order; they alone survived to fight back. These Freedom Fighters work underground, doing all they can to push against this man. However, Kevendez has found out about their existence, and has created the Anti-Terrorism Union, a group of elite soldiers trained specifically to find the leaders of this rebellion, and wipe out the last true threat to his power.
    The past is the past; that is unchangeable. My question to you, soldier, is this: where does you allegiance lie? Are you a loyalist, a warrior in the ATU ready to defend Kevendez to your dying breath? Or, are you a Freedom Fighter, a simple person ready to risk life and more for the return of a true democracy?
    The choice is yours, but choose quickly. The world will not wait for long.
    Rules
    I expect this to be a somewhat advanced RP. If you need me to tell you the basic rules, then I'm not sure this is for you. Besides that, there really aren't too many rules you have to worry about. Swearing, fine. Romance, fine. Just adhere to the rules of the site, and you should be fine.
    Also, someone will need to be the leader of the rebels and someone else Kevendez's second in command guy (See my temp. below) for this to work. Other than that any character is fine. NPCs can be used where needed.
    The way this RP was planned allows it to be run by 3-4 strong writers. If any one of you wants to join, we'll be almost able to start. We can start when we have the three...I hate to say it but "main characters": Kevendez, his partner, and the rebel leader. After that people can join as they will.
    Post your template here and once it's approved post it in the main thread. OOC is okay in the main thread as long as it is accompanied by a post. If you don't have a post, come here to talk.
    Name-Nicholas Kevendez
    Age -32
    Alliance- I think that that is clear without me saying…
    Description- Nicholas is an average-looking man of 32 years, with military-cut light brown hair. He's not physically intimidating, standing at 5' 10" and weighing only 170 pounds but he doesn't need to be big because his ideas and his voice are his main weapons.
    His eyes are a rare forest green that captivates people as soon as they lock eyes over that first firm handshake. Nicholas is the perfect politician. People like his easy way, his charming smile and especially the easy manner in which he can give orders, and have them followed.
    But, as all know, looks can be deceiving...
    Personality- Nicholas has a quick way of saying things that cause some to believe he is strictly a professional but if they actually listen to the words he's saying they'd realize that his wit is unmatched and his humor comes and goes so quickly, hardly a soul notices.
    When people look at Nicholas, they see a man of the people and his good will and charitable ways are like that of no one else. But in reality, Nicholas is a man who says one thing yet means another. He'll do something kind when actually its purpose is to serve himself. No one knows Nicholas well enough to discern when he's serving the people or when his intentions are utterly self-serving.
    Perhaps, under scrutiny, his benign lifestyle would not hold up so well...
    Equipment- His mind is all he needs, though he keeps a .357 Magnum revolver at hand for his own protection.
    History- Nicholas was born on February 17th, 1983 in Uryupinsk, Russia. A town whose name was taken in Russia as a synonym for "backwater town." His father made his living working in a plant that made cranes. The machines fascinated little Nicholas when he was six years old and he longed to one day work aboard them.
    In school Nicholas excelled over all around him from the time he was in first grade until he graduated, valedictorian, in 2001. Though expectations were high for young Nicholas, he did not go off to any of the many colleges offering him a free ride all the way through his higher education. He had never forgotten the dream of the six-year old boy he had been not too long before.
    Nicholas moved to Kaliningrad early in June of that year to work on the machines his father had once built. Working the crane was every bit as enjoyable as Nicholas had expected but it seemed too good to be true.
    Alas, it was. After working in Kaliningrad for barely three months, Nicholas received news from home. His fifty year old father had been gravely injured in the factory.
    Nicholas quit his job and flew back home as quickly as he could. When he reached the airport he hailed a cab and had the man drive him to the hospital. He arrived just in the nick of time. He rushed into his fathers room, took him by the hand and watched him fade away.
    "Nicholas..." It was his father's last word but it made Nicholas feel good under the circumstances. He knew his father cared and he knew what he had to do.
    Nicholas went home that night and first thing in the morning he called the Dean of Admissions at Saint Petersburg State University and asked if the offer was still available.
    It was.
    He stayed in Uryupinsk long enough to witness his father's funeral then left for St. Petersburg the next day. Once there he immediately went to work. On a free ride, he could do what he wanted and take as many classes as he pleased. He chose a lot. He took Psychology, Sociology, Physiology, four different sciences- from Physics to Biology-, Nine languages- Spanish, English, French, Latin, German, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, and even a little bit of Ancient Greek-, and (probably one of his most important classes) political science.
    He was ready. He got his doctorate in Political Science, Psychology and Sociology all at the same time. Something that had never been accomplished before. He moved back to Uryupinsk to stay with his mother for a time and while he was there he was approached by the town committee and asked something he had never even thought of.
    Would he like to run for mayor?
    Without hesitation he said yes. He ran, and he won. His opponent Randall Krionov was gracious about his defeat and Nicholas appreciated his humility. He allowed him a job in Town Hall as his first man (what some, in jest, called the "Vice Mayor.")
    Nicholas and Randall became fast friends. They started doing everything together. Randall became the only person Nicholas could trust.
    In 2010, tragedy struck once again when Nicholas' mother died of a tumor found in her brain. He had tried everything to save her. He had called in doctors from all over the globe but they all had said the same thing. "There's nothing I can do."
    His term almost over, Nicholas decided that he needed to get out of Uryupinsk and to go for bigger things.
    He was going to be the president of Russia.
    When he told the people of Uryupinsk of his imminent departure tears were shed for the loss of their wonderful mayor but joy was shared in the knowledge that, with Nicholas at its head, Russia would become a better country.
    On the flight to Moscow in January of 2011 Nicholas got a surprise. He was sitting in his seat, the only one in his row, reading a book when suddenly someone dropped into the seat next to him.
    It was Randall.
    "Wherever you go, I follow," he said. Nicholas was grateful for the companion and him and Randall talked through the whole flight there about everything from their childhoods to the upcoming election. Nicholas had his first true friend.
    When they reached Moscow Randall made all of the necessary arrangements for Randall to do what he was destined to do. Lead.
    With Randall running as his Prime Minister the two were a nearly unstoppable force but the vote was close.
    Nicholas won by a hair.
    He was now the president of the country. In the celebrations between the election in late 2011 and the inauguration in early 2012 Randall became ill. No one knew what was wrong with him, only that surely he would die.
    Nicholas didn't leave his bedside for an instant. All of his responsibility's to his country were forgotten as he grieved for his friend. Randall was running a fever of 42.8 degrees and his chances were looking grim.
    Then, just three days before the inauguration, miraculously, the fever broke and Randall was up and about within 48 hours. He said that nothing would stop him from seeing his friend accomplish his dream. Not even death.
    During Randall's inauguration speech not a sound was uttered. Each word he said was grasped by the people's minds and their hearts. He was their man.
    He sat in office for hardly three months when, on April 27th, they received news.
    The International Communism Pact was born.
    Word also reached him of the European powers' intention to break down the country barriers and have them all be a single entity. They would need a leader.
    Nicholas was an obvious choice. He spoke all of the languages, knew how to deal with people and also knew what it took to be a good politician. He put his name in for the running and his presence in the race actually convinced some opponents to withdraw their names. It cam down to him and Randall running against the Prime minister of England and their Parliament.
    There was no contest. Nicholas won.
    Immediately after winning the election, Nicholas declared war on the Communist countries. The war raged on for three years and millions of lives were lost. But, eventually, Europe came out on top and absorbed Cuba, China and North Korea into their power.
    Soon after the war The United States Allied with Europe in September of 2015, quickly followed by Canada, Central America, and finally Asia. The European Alliance was now Global, resulting in a name change. The Planetary Alliance.
    But South America became a problem.
    They would not join the Alliance. They claimed it was not a true democracy, that if allowed, it would become a planet-wide dictatorship. Immediately, after some prompting from Kevendez to suspend civil liberties, troops were sent in and South America was captured within a year. Nicholas was unofficially the ruler of the world.
    He wanted to make it official. Rebellions arose in South America and in some few other countries (mainly the ones that were members of the International Communism Pact.) But they were snuffed out quickly by Nicholas' highly trained team, the ATU.
    Nicholas became an idol to everyone who was willingly a part of the Alliance. They never wanted his rule to end.
    He was fine with that.
    Now, with his power official, he had only one thing to do. He had to destroy all of the last remaining vestiges of resistance.
    He had the world on his side...
    (OOC: Hello, there! May I join this game?
    Name - Adolf Kluge, a.k.a. Lao Ban
    Age - 29
    Alliance - Freedom Fighters: specifically The Guangzhou Fanpan Jituan Group situated in Guangzhou, China (secretly), The Planetary Alliance and the ATU (overtly)
    Description - A five-foot-eight, lean guy with blue eyes and black hair. Has a serious demeanor and rarely smiles. Thought by many to be an introvert, though he could be seen at social galas from time to time.
    Personality - A quiet man that tends to think all his options first before taking action. Cunning and calculating, his main motive is to gain money and power through the quickest route possible.
    Equipment - An HK P2000.
    History - Ten years before the formation of the International Communism Pact, Adolf's father, the great Andrei Kluge, was declared dead. The K Corporation, the richest and most influential business company in the world, was suddenly out of a leader.
    More so, one child had just lost a father. Adolf was just fifteen during that time.
    Adolf was left to his mother, his only family remaining. The rest of what they owned was taken away by his father's greedy associates. Gone was their Mansion in Dusseldorf, including Adolf's bedroom, which he loved endearingly. Gone was his education in Aloisiuskolleg, including his friends, and his girlfriend, Adrianna. Everthing was taken. Everything, gone.
    Adolf's mother, Klarissa, was forced to work as a factory worker in Berlin, while Adolf studied in public school. This went on for two years until his mother earned enough for them to migrate in Asia. The cost of living in Germany was simply too high. Klarissa had a sister living in Guangzhou, so she decided she'd move her family there and live a simple life.
    Adolf had, yet again, another place to adapt to. School was easy. Adolf had always been a bright kid. During his study in Dusseldorf's Aloisiuskolleg, he obtained excellent scores in almost all fields, though Social Studies had always been his weak subject. Nevertheless, his knowledge of Biology, Chemistry, Philosophy and Physics was stellar. When he moved to a public school in Berlin, Adolf managed to maintain the grades he had at Dusseldorf. This never changed when he studied in a public high school in Guangzhou, where he also studied the Chinese language.
    Adolf finished his BS degree, double-majors in Economics and Business Management, by the age of nineteen. He then acquired his Master's Degree in Economics a year later. He worked as a professor in Guangzhou University while he studied law in South China Normal University, which he finished two years later. He got his law license the same year.
    Despite his successes, Adolf never learned to lose hatred for those who took what should've been his. Having learned that Guangzhou announced that Dusseldorf had become one of its friendship cities, Adolf took the opportunity to take back what he lost. Now with a steady source of resources, Adolf flew back to Dusseldorf almost seven years after he left, promising to his mother that he will come back for her, and will take her with him by then.
    So much had changed to the city he once loved. But those sentiments and yearning to rediscover the place had to be put on hold. There are more important things to address.
    First, he had to arm himself. He went back to pencil and paper as he studied German Law in Heinrich-Heine. He finished the degree two years later. Since he was now a Chinese citizen (he acquired it via naturalization when he applied for the bar exam in Guangzhou), he was not able to apply for a license. So he applied for a re-acquiring of his German citizenship and got approved. Finally, after eight years, Adolf was once again a German.
    Needless to say, he passed the second state exam and acquired his license a year later.
    With all weapons in hand, Adolf moved in for the kill. The K Corporation still existed during that time, and it was still one of the richest companies in the world, second only to a handful of other corporations. Adolf contested for the ownership of K Corporation, to which the current board retaliated. Adolf knew the case would take years to finish, but already had a plan.
    On the sixteenth day of December, 2010, Adolf visited the offices of Johann Schmidt, the current Chairman and CEO of K Corporation. The next day, Schmidt was found dead in his apartment. Apparently, he died of a heart attack.
    Three days later, two more members of the K Corporation board died of natural causes. One drowned while swimming in his pool, an accident; and the other of a stroke.
    A week later, with no contesting party, Adolf was given majority ownership of K Corporation.
    All those days studying the vasoconstrictive properties of phenols and ephedrines, as well as the anticoagulant properties of salicylates in high school finally paid off.
    Four months later, Adolf's net worth rose to 15 Billion Euros. At the same time, the International Communism Pact was signed.
    Fast-track three more months, just when Adolf was to petition his mother to Germany, Klarissa died. She was killed as European Alliance forces ravaged Guangzhou.
    Since then, Adolf vowed to kill Nicholas Kevendez and his so-called Alliance.
    And he started by declaring support for the Alliance President and his ATU, funding their arms-development while at the same time, he travels to Guangzhou, gathers his friends, and funds their rebellion.
