With only five people signed up so far I'm going to leave this open a few more days. I would love to have a few more convicts to crash on an uncharted planet! C'mon, who's with me?

Hi, I'm new to the forums. I'm interested in joining the game too if you don't mind.
I'll go ahead and post a profile in the appropriate section, hopefully I'm not too late...

(EDIT: I just finished my character profile... Please don't panic when you see the Great Wall of Text, the long part is the background and there's a Brief Version at the bottom if you feel you're going to flip out, fall asleep or if your eyes start bleeding from too much reading. I really do hope that it's a decent story though...)

Kam, you're not too late, I had to be out of town which means I have to play catch-up in RL today. I have a few points to make about your character.

1. Earth is under the power of a global totalitarian regime. If Japan did close its ports and withdraw from the world there would have been war. Perhaps it is possible that they activated the bubble during that time and the global forces thought Japan was destroyed. It's a little shakey but we don't need a ton of backstory for this...none of the game will happen on Earth.

2. If no-one gets in or out of the bubble...how did Kam get out? Not sure how well the 'escape pod' idea works with the 'uncontrollable disaster' scenario but you can use it if you like. We can fudge it a little here and there.

3. You have two options here for on the transport:
If Kam is considered a minor or standard offender he'll be kept in a holding pen with the other men of his rank (women are separate). There are a few plastic-coated metal bunks (plastic is poured over the metal fittings, no unscrewing or unbolting, very hard to break) in just one large large holding cell. He will have nothing to work with to open the doors which are sealed quite well.
If he is considered to be dangerous he will be along the wall to the rear of this holding area, separated from the minor offenders by a plastic-coated wire-and-mesh wall. The dangerous offenders are shackled by one wrist through the solid wall behind them, a plastic-coated and sealed metal manacle (imagine a cross between a manacle and a zip-tie) which is chained with the same metal-and-plastic chain. The chains extend through small holes in that wall to fastenings behind it, out of reach. The chain is not long enough for the dangerous criminals to reach each other. Each of the dangerous criminals has a plastic-coated metal bunk, fastened firmly to the floor.

So Kam can't hide in his bunk, he can't open the door to slip out and switch places with the guard. I think you'll have to keep him in one of the two categories of criminal. Even someone with MacGyver-type abilities is going to have a tough time breaking out of this ship. The prisoners considered less dangerous will have more of a chance to get themselves free at the appointed time. Those considered to be in some way 'dangerous' will probably not be able to get free though they can try. You're forcing me into some spoilers here.

You have some good things going for this character, the language barrier, the flaws, and some interesting strengths. People would view him with deep suspicion if he had no idea of the world around him, I could see that fear and suspicion easily landing him aboard the transport.

Your character's name translates to 'God', I hope that's not a portent of god-moding.

Ok, let's see.

1- I basically made that story up so I could explain the language barrier and ignorance behind my character. If it's not too shaky, considering it's the basis of my background, I'd like to keep it please. ^_^;

2- No one gets in or out, primarily because Japanese can't get out through the shield and others can't detect the city, but I don't remember typing that no one COULD go in or out. Did I ? If I did then yea that's a huge mistake on my part and will fix it. If you want, I can add a line about how the pod is equipped with a shield-penetration device or something.

3- Sorry for the spoilers haha. I tried to be original. Obviously, an ID and suspicion accusation can't be labeled as "dangerous". Kam didn't try to kill anyone or anything, so minor/standard offender is more likely. I will send you a PM about a question I have about this point, so please check your PMs.

Lastly, yes I know my name translates into "God", but don't worry, there won't be any god-moding, I swear.

This is where the confusion comes in! But you don't really have to clarify how he did let's just assume he did. I'm more curious about that than really needing an answer.

Few explanations could be good I guess. Japanese people don't have their own pods to go through the shield. Going through with your body = dissolution. They need something to go through, and if they don't know how to make one of those shield-penetration devices, OR the pods, then it's either dissolution or crushed by the water pressure as soon as they get out. So...

Oh and not to mention that it's highly illegal to even try, and Japanese people don't actually WANT to leave.
