Are you copywriting the chaining to the desk thing?????? Surely everyone is allowed to do that

I like your idea. I wouldn't mind being in that RPG, obviously with more than one character Its important though what Renos things of it, because this is her RPG and she had an idea of her own

Oh yeah, damn I forgot, I almost hijacked the RPG ^_^

Haha yes apparently I copyrighted the wrong thing. You knew what I meant so that's good.

I like it, made it all up myself too! hehe, I will write this on my own anyways so it doesn't bother me if we don't use it.

So Mistique, any ideas of your own? What would you like to see in a sci-fi RPG?

How about you get to play as two characters? one evil and the other good, each influences the other's actions?

for example you play good character 1, you messed up evil lord's plan and that's success for you. Later you play as the evil lord, and realized rebuilding's goin to be a hell of a job because of what YOU did. pretty fun ain't it? It will be free roaming and your characters, get to choose, but this time you'll be thinking hard about your characters actions because you are going to have to solve it sooner or later as the other character. You could have them as twins, or rivals trying to outsmart the other. what do you think?

Well that doesn't sound half bad. Why don't you join us in our rpg ones it gets started that is

I have worked with more than one character before. In one I have had two characters, in one I had six characters and in one I had four characters. I think it is rather fun to have more than one. I can for instance let a character die (through murder or otherwise) if I have more than one character. I could do that with only one but that would suck as I would be out of the story that way

I also think having them on different save files, like the more characters you have the world evolves based on what characters you've created so far. A growing larger world everytime you create. makes for pretty good story potential. wink* wink* hehe

As I said before I like the idea. This thing about them having been born on the ship, would that mean they had a life there before they got to the planet? a history?

I do like them having special skills. Maybe each of them could have been trained for specific purposes?

sorry I didn't make sense last post, kinda sleepy. hehe.

If they were born on the ship, were they genetically altered? imbued with special survival skills?

I'd like to play a mysterious loner, who doesn't seem to care, but always come through when he's needed the most. someone reliable, but a pain in the ass to work with. he would be a mechanic, someone great with machines inventing unexpected things.

Well that seems fine to me.

But I am still with the being born on the ship thing. Do they get born in some kind of incubator keeping them alive but unconcious on the ship untill they arive at the planet? or do they grow up on the ship and have a life there before they arive at the planet? I would prefer something like the last one, or maybe that they had a history on earth and were in a sleeping position or something whilst traveling. I would like that as I would like my characters to have some history before the story starts and in incubators that couldn't happen. Did I just make sense?

    Hey, Cefor (and everyone else),

Earth is dying, humans can no longer live on their home world. Scientists believe they've found the answer. An exo-earth seen in a nearby (astrologically speaking) system. Not much is known about the planet or system, except that the planet is ideally placed and chemically made-up to suit our species.

It's the year 2270 (arbitrary) and we finally have the capabilities of inter-system travel. (Do we want hard science fiction here or not? I could cook up a suitable explanation of how it works if you fancy it). The journey will actually take around 70 years, so they had to create ships which were captained by an Artificial Intelligence. Before the ships reach the system they will begin a process of gestation where soldiers will be born, some with specialist skills (our characters) and they will if necessary conquer the planet, creating at the very least a complex where a small portion of humanity will survive.
The planet is called Eden, a new hope.

I’m going to propose some mod’s to your premise, and see how you feel on them. Let’s assume this is what we’ll go forward with for the sake of what follows here.

If we want hard, this might not be likely. Any system we find that might be hospitable we can only think of as having been hospitable at one point in the past. By the time we can see it, that system might be gone. More likely, a number of ‘seeding’ ships would be sent out with limited resources. The finding would have to be done ‘out there.’ This gets rid of the timeframes required, and the problem of arriving someplace that is no longer inhabitable.

So, a dying Earth sends out, say, fifty AI ships into space with parameters and such toward the suitable stars first. They have a payload of necessary primary equipment and resource in each. These are seeds.

The AI’s chart the course to the next star, and go dormant. When they enter the next heliosphere, they become active, do a detailed scan of the system. If they fail to find anything, they plot the next suitable star and slingshot from that sun on the new course. There are no dormant people, no time frames. It just works until it finds someplace suitable.

When the ship locates someplace suitable, or that can be made suitable with minimal work (I could provide a list, if you wanted of speculative things.) It would do so, and then begin to produce generation zero, the workers. Some of them may be more needed than others. Producing adult humans might be tricky. It might be best for the AI to give them sets of memories. The people might be needed to assess and direct any amount of terraforming that would be required, military action, etc. The AI would decide what solution set is required. Nanites and small machines would already be at work on the planet, building whatever was needed for the task. A lot of this would depend on the type of place you had in mind.

Okay, well, more on that later. Think I’ll see what we think so far before going forward.

Being in cryogen, i think, space travel happens sometimes on hundreds of years. So I think cryostasis would be a solution, yes, having background stories would be interesting.
