    New fantasy RPG?

OK so had a random idea for a new fantasy RPG... so here it is!

The setting for the start of our story is the small mountain-side village of Doorn, in the kingdom of Erindoor. All our characters have grown up together and know each other fairly well (as opposed to the usual RPG's where they all meet for the first time at the start) and are bordering on or have just entered adulthood.

There comes a messenger with a proclamation from the King. All unmarried young people from the villages far and wide are summoned to the capital city of Erin to appear before the King before the first day of summer. There is no reason for this summons however it cannot be denied. Rumour has it that there has been a prophesy and the King must choose a group of young people to go on a quest for the good of the Kingdom but nobody knows anything further than this.

As Doorn is a very outer-lying village, almost on the very border of the kingdom, by the time the message arrives the travellers must leave the very next day to get to Erin in time as it is a journey of a month in fine weather on foot.

The story begins as the villagers assemble in curiosity to hear the mysterious message that has arrived all the way from Erin...

(note in, our characters do NOT know this but the idea is the ailing King has no heir, so an heir must be found... the young people are summoned by the prophesy so it must describe our characters in some way so that they are chosen by the King to go on the quest. In the end, the heir turns out to be one of our characters all along some how, but haven't figured out how yet, ideas welcome).

    Character profile:

Name: Raevyn, daughter of Brock-Brockson the Blacksmith
    Age: 17
Appearance: Small, light stature, petite frame. Pale skin, startling big blue eyes and jet black hair that falls to just below her shoulders.
    History:
Raevyn, like most of the village has never been further than the surrounding villages a few miles away in her life. She has grown up in Doorn and knows the surrounding area for a good day's walk. She has always had a safe, secure lifestyle but the thrill of adventure has always called to her. Raeyvn's favourite chore is bringing the carthorse in from his field in the evening and her favourite time of year is the Midsummer dance the village holds every year. She has led a sheltered life away from war, hunger and pain and due to her mother's skills and teachings, Raeyvn is an excellent cook but she is a bit of a tom-boy too, and has on many occasion snuck out to learn basic archery, farriery and riding from her father and grandfather.

    some clarification needed.

How far is this fantasy? Magic or just the improbable/impossible?

All the way! Dragons, giants, wizards the works. Although I think it would be fairer/better if OUR characters were human and didn't have magic abilities... but there's no harm in them enlisting help.

Just an idea but why don't we be a race or something that has a definitive power or something so that they aren't too powerful.

Or we come from different clans of wizards and we've had most of our powers blocked so we're not overly powerful again and we have to define what power we have left.

Just ideas but this sounds like fun, I'm up for it

Maybe we could all be humans without magical powers but we all have one magic item that will allow us to fight magical beings and, if not win, survive if we have to fight them. sound alright?

    just idea tennis now

    NO.

wimbledon is my most hated event in all history. In fact, mention it again and I'll send angry wombles to your house.

    :O

I promise not to mention wimbledon again or the fantastic match Murray played today or the surprise defeat of Sharapova yesterday.

Or forget that I promised this tomorrow

I would much, MUCH rather our characters to be normally human please. NPC's can be whatever you like.

Go ahead and post profiles guys. I will start the story thread when a couple of profiles are up and we're ready to go.

Name: Ade Gematria (lol wolfy gets it )
    Age: 21
Appearance: Tall and broad shouldered. Has a few scars on his torso and back. Often seen wearing an open leather hunting vest, light linen trousers and wooden sandles. Long, brown, hair and green eyes.
History: Ade came to the village after his father were banished from their first home. They moved to Doorn when Ade was 10 and he has been living there ever since. His father trainned him the ways of the sword and tried to instill in his son the virtues of a knight while keeping the humility of a mere traveller. Ade was also taught how to live off the land and it is a very poorly kept secret that Ade hasn't slept indoors since he was thirteen.
