Slower paced RPG's generally work better for me.

Name: James son of Kevin the farmer
    Age: 17
Appearance: Hazel eyes, short blond hair, 5'5". Doesn't have a lot of muscle but is not considered skinny. He's usually seen wearing a tan shirt and trousers that are tattered and faded with worn brown boots covering his feet. His short bow and quiver are often slung across his back.
History: Born and raised on a farm on the outskirts of Doorn. Helps his family around the farm and often goes bow hunting with his father. Most of the meat his family eats is credited to him since he is better than his father with the bow.

James manages to get himself into a heap of trouble by talking before thinking. He's also notorious for being a fast runner as he runs from any trouble he can't talk himself out of. In spite of this reputation he is sure footed and a gentleman at the town dances always treating the girls with respect.

He's never left Doorn because his father always says he needs his help on the farm and won't let him go. James wonders what the rest of the world is like and is just waiting for his father to let him go see it. In the meantime he often visits with people in town and enjoys hearing the tales travelers bring to Doorn; especially the adventures.

    Thanks!

This may be a tricky character for me to play since in real life I am very much the opposite of this character, but I already have some ideas.

Since this is my first RPG on this site if one of you will be so kind to let me know where the thread(s) are when it starts that will be very helpful. I'm guessing they will be in the Writing Challenge forum.

Also what are the rules for starting an RPG here?

    No rules. More like, recommendations.

1/ Make an 'affairs' thread to outline the plot and see if anyone wants to join.
2/ Make the story thread only AFTER the affairs thread.
3/ Try to be fair - Your character can't be leagues above the others, for example.
4/ Try and start the RPG with at least three people.

But I'm not the boss so I'm not going to tell you anything else, you work things out on your own. That's part of the fun man

    Thanks!

I am not going to start one right now but have considered it a few times and at some point I probably will. Thanks it looked like you didn't really have to have approval from someone at this site. I have seen that at other sites and wondered how it was here.

Well you see I have already been planning how to start out and so most of it is already worked out in my head, I am heading over to the main RPG thread to see what has already happened and hopefully work some of it in to what I have in mind.

I notice both of you have already posted there too.
