Okay dokie here's the plot:

In 2042, the world seemed to be in it's golden age. There was no war, cancer had been finally cured, and technology was making it so man could live out in space. The first mini-colony, called Verguild was built in this year. Some newer families were chosen to be the first to live in it. Life couldn't be sweeter.
In 2043, on the other hand, it was astronomically different. There was nothing. On Earth, humanity surceased to exist. What could cause an end to this flourishing species? The Silens Nex virus. In two days humans were wiped out. The only survivors were those stationed on Verguild. Helpless to do anything, they were forced to watch their beloved planet grow silent.

Fourteen years later... (Just had to do that... )

The Verguild has received a mysterious distress signal from a mysterious source. Earth. Our story begins on this colony the day after this call....

Here's the fun part:

There are only 4 families on this colony so you must choose to join one of them as a child or parent. There are perhaps more people, but you can only be from these groups. (I haven't decided how big this thing will be)

It would be awesome if you made multiple characters, but any left over slots will be filled in with NCP's, k? Also, these are normal people so no special powers.

Verguild:
This colony was set up so that it could last only 30 years if left to it's own devices. There is only enough for that time. That means crew members are constantly swapping clothing and items. Each adult member (on here at 16 you are an adult) must do a job on it (wow I've added a lot from Graying Horizons). We need teachers, doctors, cooks, ect. There is a food ration and also a paranoia that everyone will die on the colony. Earth looks like their best option for survival.

Name: Eliza Jane Rose, but everyone calls her Elly
Age: 13
Gender: Female
Place in family: Youngest child
Appearance: She is a lanky young girl that appears to have grown very much in a short period of time. Her hair is cropped in a boyish cut and she has deep red hair, just like her daddy. She has her mother's green eyes. She usually wears around clothing a few sizes too big for her, hand-me-downs from her siblings and working goggles on her head.
Personality: She runs around Verguild as if she owns it. She tries to act tougher than the boys and always gets in fights. She seems to think of her self as mature, which isn't very true. Elly is an utter tomboy and has an obsession with swearing because she thinks it makes her seem like an adult. She is always getting into mischief. Despite her reckless nature, she is a bright adolescent.
Skills: Squirming out of any tough situation, she's 13 so she doesn't know yet.
History: Her mother was pregnant with her during the out-break, but Elly was born a few months after it. She symbolized to the crew the continuation of life.

Name: Collette Alaina Kunc
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Position in family: Child
Appearance: She has slightly bronzed skin with dark brown hair and blue eyes. She is tall and curvy. If she was still on earth she probably would have been a model. She usually wears her favorite skinny jeans and tight shirt with the British flag on it.
Personality: She can be a "party pooper" at times. She is a follower of rules and a hard worker. She never seems to be able to relax and let life just happen. She must follow a strict schedule and be on time. Still she loves to have a good time, just as long as she gets everything else she has planed done. She is brilliant, but can be narcissistic and so blunt it is cruel.
Skills: Nursing, marksmanship. She goes to the firing range every weekend.
History: Her life has been boring so far. She lived it too seriously when she was younger and as a result she doesn't have very many friends in the colony.
Occupation on colony: Assistant Nurse. (She is training to be the head doctor)

Maybe I should turn this into a group. I think that would be a fun idea.

Name: Mortimer "Mort" Whipple
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Place in family: father
Appearance: Mortimer is a tall man, broad and muscular. Most people who meet him would see him as a brute. This is misleading. While not with his son he is dressed in a black leather jacket and a pair of faded jeans. When caring for Duncan he wears clothes that are brightly coloured.
Personality: Mortimer, Mort to his friends, is a very quiet person when not with his son. He is a kind hearted man who would do anything to help someone else.
Skills: Raised by his father, a professor before the colony, Mortimer is very well educated in almost all fields. He is especially skilled at making things.
History: He was brought to the colony by his father when he was only nine years old. At nine he was already very intelligent for his age and was very excited about the prospect of living in space.
At the age of 20 he found his 'soulmate' and married her. Although he was considered too young for marriage he scorned his family's warnings. two years into the marriage his wife gave birth to Duncan.
Shortly after giving birth to Duncan his wife contracted a rare disease. She was unable to recover from it and died shortly before Duncan's first birthday. He has continued to raise Duncan on his own, making it his mission in life to make sure growing up without a mother won't harm his development.

Name: WolfgangVanderbilt (everyone calls her Wolfy)
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Place in family: Eldest Child
Appearance: Wolfy has long flowing electric blue hair (which she claims is natural), she wears an edited version of the Verguild secruity uniform changing the pants for a short denim mini skirt. She is an attractive girl and acts very feminin, however do not mistake this for weakness she can be a cruel cold bitch when it comes down to maintaining order.
Personality: Wolfy is a regular flirt, anything with two legs and balls is concidered a target. she is very happy go lucky unless you proceed to piss her off, then, you don't want to be iwthin ten feet of her.
Skills: marksmanship, and hand to hand combat, as well as this she has a high level of agility and a gymnastics background.
History: Life in the guild leave very little room for anythign to go wrong, other than scholding children she hasn't done much with her life and is known to spend her spare time in the gym. She cares for her little brother Damin more than anything in this world.

Name: Damin Vanderbilt
Age: 15

Place in family: Youngest Son
Appearance: Short brown hair, tallish with a taste for black clothing.
Personality: Happy go lucky yet very shy.
Skills: He has a good head for Tatics
History: He has lived in the colony his entire life so nothing interesting has happened.

Place in family: Partner to Mike. No children.
Appearance: Long blond hair and bright blue eyes. Although she is very pretty she wears clothes that hide this as much as possible.
Personality: In general she is quiet and withdrawn. She can be somewhat more outgoing if Mike is not around.
Skills: She didn't graduate as she got thrown out due to her behavior. She is clumsy and is often seen with injuries.
History: Noa was a rebelious teenager and ran away from home when her parents didn't agree of her relationship with Mike. She was 15 at that moment and moved in with Mike. She has calmed down considerably after this.
Occupation on colony: Noa runs a small store where people can swapp the things they don't need anymore for those that they do need.

Noa is related to WolfgangVanderbilt and Damin Vanderbilt. Maybe a cousin or something? Renos

Appearance: Black hair and dark brown eyes. He dresses well.
Personality: Very charming and outgoing. People tend to like him the moment they meet him. He helps people whenever they need help.
Skills: He was trained as a lawyer but currently works as a teacher.
History: Gratuated first of his class. Had a long line of girl friends before he met Noa.
Occupation on colony: teacher.
