Rick smiled easily as he took the order from the two pretty blondes across the bar. They had to lean over to make themselves heard over the pounding of the club's music and their low-cut tops made for a good view. Not that he was looking. Much.

Turning his back on them for a moment Rick snatched two bottles from the fridges behind him with an easy grace borne of practise. He scooped up two clean cocktail glasses, placed them lightly on the bar and began his mixing routine, tossing bottles high, low and performing his juggling act without a slip. In seconds the girls' drinks were ready and waiting for them - Rick shoving a cherry on a pick into each for a finishing touch.

He took their money, deftly punched the order into the till and scooped out their change. It was shaping up to be a busy night, he thought as he handed their change back with a wink before moving on to the next group waiting to order. He skipped out of the way as Johnny - another young barman - scooted past him filling his own orders.

A group of men this time. Oh well, can't hog all the pretty girls, Rick thought. He took their orders - five beers. Humming to his own tune going round his head Rick worked on happily, enjoying the fun of the job.

Faith sighed to herself before she stepped through the door into the club, again her father had picked her outfit, the perfect outfit for recruiting, a low cut black satin dress that finished halfway down her thighs, black stilletto heals to match.

As she walked in she put on her sexiest smile, shaking her head slightly causing her dark hair to move from in front of her eyes, she moved with ease, her hips only having the slightest sway but enough to turn a couple of heads. She ignored them walking over to the bar, and taking a seat on one of the stools leaning foward casually waiting to be served.

Ray crouched down low, his back resting against the wall to the club. He could feel the vibrations from the music through the wall and it set his teeth on edge. He had never liked clubs, even when he'd got some girls out of it. Presently his mentor, and godfather, Lucas was talking to him,
"Now you know we got the tip off about the recruitment mission that one of the families is conducting right?" he asked his godson as he eyed the doorman from around the corner of the building. Ray sighed,
"Yes Lucas. I can tell they're here." he said offhandedly. Lucas turned to stare down at his godson,
"I told you to stop using those abilities of yours Ray." he said icily. Ray felt a lump form in his throat and he nodded,
"I've been trying but..." he looked away. Lucas frowned,
"You're becoming more like them everyday Ray. I keep thinking that one day I'll walk into your room and find a couple of bloodless corpses." he said, not a trace of humour in his voice. Ray growled,
"I would never do that Lucas and you know it." he said with a snarl. Lucas pointed to the club with a combat knife,
"Prove your loyalty to the cause Ray." he said. It was a line he often used but it never failed to motivate his godson. Ray stood and snatched the knife out of his mentor's hand,
"You want the head or just the heart?" he asked sarcastically. Just as he was about to turn the corner he heard his godfather speak,
    "Both."
    Ray's blood ran cold.

    ***

Ray had hidden the knife, and his other weapons, well. He walked straight past the doorman without a word, just two fifty dollar bills hitting 'falling' from his pocket. Once inside the club he felt his senses go wide for a second before adjusting to the sheer volume of people in the club. Knowing exactly what to do he walked over to the bar and leant against it. He waited until one of the bartenders was finished with a group of boys before waving slightly at him,
"Can I get a shot of vodka please?"

Rick was aware of a couple of more people coming up to the bar to order drinks. He heard another man ask for vodka so Rick deftly placed a shot glass on the bar, filled it and slid it down to the guy. He took in the leather coat, the tinged purple hair and the eyepatch. But, this was Vibrations, you got all sorts in here.

"That's five fifty thanks, mate." Rick told him. He took the money and went over to the till. As he slid the coins into it he noticed her.

She was perfect and suddenly nothing else existed in the world. Bright blue eyes pierced him as though she could see right into his very soul. Her long, wavy brown hair glinted in the flashing lights over the dancefloor behind her. The dim lights over the bar made her pale skin glow and the satin dress glittered with a thousand shades of black. She was exquisit, a goddess descended from the heavens. Rick had never seen anything so beautiful and captivating in his life.

Johnny who was serving her seemed equally as struck. Rick stared at her, his mind filled with her vision.

Faith smiled as she caught the eye of the second barman, however she made sure her hair kept a barrier between her and the purple haird man.

Your there for a reason Faith, don't you forget.

Her fathers voice echoed around in her head and once again he was greatful that he couldn't actually see what we going on infront of her. Taking a sip out of her drink she nodded to the bartender handing over her cash,
He's one She thought to herself, although outward he seemed nice, Jonny had a vicious streak a mile long hidden just under the surface, a small sigh escaped her, perfect for my fathers intentions.

It was then her eyes moved to the second bartender,
"Come talk to me" She mouthed with a small sexy smile, she couldn't help it, he was cute...for a human.

Rick was startled when the woman stared straight back at him and mouthed something to him. Rick had never been good at lip reading but he felt that there was undeniably a summons. Without his eyes leaving the goddess walking the earth Rick grabbed Anton's sleeve, another of his collegues and hissed at him; "I'm going on break for a minute. Cover me."

Anton looked suprised but shrugged and went on with his duties, taking the orders of a trio of darkly dressed, mysterious looking women. Not that Rick noticed any of this, he was too preoccupied with the woman he was now approaching. His heart was racing yet he knew not why and he closed his eyes momentarily as her scent - some exotic perfume - drifted toward him.

'Get a grip!' he scolded himself, 'You're acting like some pathetic schoolboy with his first crush! Mentally shaking himself Rick smiled warmly at the woman.

"Is there anything I can get for you?" he asked her.

Faith watched him intently as he made is way over, she could hear the beat of his racing heart and this simply caused her to grin more, she watched him close his eyes, take in her sent, the perfume her father had ordered her wear. She looked down at her empty glass as he approached.

"Is there anything I can get for you?" She looked up catching his smile,

"How about a drink?" She said her small but sexy grin never leaving her face, "They why don't you sit and chat with me for awhile" As she took him in she knew he wouldn't be right for her fathers cause, but still...that didn't mean she couldn't have some fun, he seemed nice. She'd just have to be careful, the purple haired man was making her edgy.

"Sure, and what would you like?" Rick asked, concentrating hard to seem coherant. There was something about her that made his thoughts fuzzy, unclear. He put it down to overtiredness combined with her dazzling looks. He wondered momentarily whether she really wanted him to chat to her. She didn't seem real.

He eyed an empty booth to the far corner of the club. It was dimly lit, like the rest of the place but it would offer a little peace from the other patrons and it would be comparitively quiet. As quiet as it could be in Vibrations with the music pumping out of the speakers at full volume.

Faith laughed lightly, "Why don't you suprise me?" she said quietly before following his gaze to the empty booth. Standing up she grinned, "How about I meet you over there?" With that she turned and moved through the crowd with ease.

Rick watched her go, her perfect figure moving with the lithe, graceful steps of a panther. Every man and most of the women in the club turned to watch her as she passed. Rick still couldn't believe she was real.

Quickly he turned back to the bar and deliberated on what to get her. Eventually he settled for one of the most popular women's cocktails hoping she'd like it. After a few minutes he took it over to the booth, having a bourbon for himself. Hesitantly he slid the drink onto the small table in front of her. Her eyes were welcoming so Rick slid into the seat beside her.

    "Rick Linton." he introduced himself.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Rick" but even as she said this a little voice in the back of her mind said, he wont' think it's a pleasure once he realises what you are. "My names Faith" She said her face graced with a small smile, as she piked up her drink and took a small sip, the smile instantly grew bigger,
"Mmm, my favorite, you really do have a good eye for things Rick" she said letting one of her hands 'accidently' brush across his.

At her touch Rick felt a shock go through him, and he immediately began to feel hot and his breath caught for a moment. He wanted her to do it again but forced himself to sit still. No woman like this would have eyes for him, a mere barman. Perhaps in a few years if he made a name for himself as a musician and had earned a lot of money... she was stunning and he couldn't bring himself to end the conversation yet he doubted that anything could possibly come of this meeting. Women like her were traditionally seen on the arm of a corporate multi squillionaire or a movie star or something.

He saw a momentary flash of something else in her eyes. Was it sadness? Regret? He immediately wanted to help her but instead forced himself to make light conversation, something that before had always come easily to him.

"What brings you to Vibrations?" he asked above the music, "I have never seen you here before."

"My father wanted me out of the house for the night" Faith said with a shrug, "And i guess i ended up here" This was just the story her father and her had agreed on in case this kind of converstion came up,
"I've walked past here a few times, but never come in so i decided to change that" Again, another lie, she'd been in here before...long before he started working here.

"So what brought you to New York?" she asked with a smile, steering the converstation away from her.

Ray had seen his mark. She was blantently obvious when you looked with more than just lust in your eyes. Sure, Ray's eyes had more than a fair bit of lust for her too but he looked past it. She might be hot... but she was his mark.
He downed the shot before moving over to the booth, already getting himself into character. She was sat there talking to the bartender who'd served him the vodka. A ghost of a smile appeared before he came within sight. This wound be easy. He quickly turned the smile to a look of anger and slammed his fists on the table they were sat at, knocking both of their glasses over,
"Hey buddy! You get away from my girl!"

Faith's eyes shot up a flashing red before returning to their normal blue colour. She heard her cell go off in her bag, without taking her eyes of the purple haired man she stood up, getting her phone, the message she'd got was simple,
    Hunter, on our way.

It was her father's favourite henchmen, quickly she slid past Rick sliding a note with her number and call me written on it,
"Do you always have to be the jealous type" She snarled at the purple haired man playing the game, shoving him backwards, just as if she was a human. Turning to Rick quickly she sighed,
"Sorry" She muttered before walking swiftly towards the door knowing full well that the hunter would follow her.
