Fresh RPG - Real World Fantasy

Hey everyone, thought this could be fun and interesting to write. A fantasy RPG based right here and now in the real world. If you want to join, please post up a character and Jump into the story thread! I would like to have 4 or more characters, one each. Also I'd like a reasonably even number of males and females... so if you normally write from one gender's perspective, consider writing from the other this time

    Rules:
    - No invincible characters, that never do anything wrong. Our characters ARE human so they are going to mess up and they are going to make mistakes.
    - You can only control your own character, your character can do things to another but you cannot write for somebody else (unless a player is going to be away for a while and asks you to)
    - No explicit or disturbing stuff, full on sex scenes etc

    Fantasy bit
Our characters each have a special skill, ability or talent that marks them apart from the human race. That alienates them and forces them to live their lives apart from the usual. Each lives on the outside of society, getting along as best they can. Some have two or three simular talents, such as a person who is psychic might talk to the dead AND get flashes of the future. A person who can fly might also be able to breathe thinner air than most AND not feel the cold easily etc. As long as the 'abilities' are related to the main one.

They may have been born with the ability, they may have learned it or it may have been dormant until a single event triggered it.

There are also creatures out there, and strange happenings. Things that most people put down as folklore or ancient mythology - old wives tales and legends (both good and bad).

    The Story Begins...
The story begins with a single event that brings our characters together. Call it fate or call it destiny. Or even call it a complete coincidence... but for whatever reason, all our characters enter the same building on the same day - each on an errand or for a reason known to themselves. And then; disaster strikes. Strangers shut the building down, block the exits and begin to capture the public trapped in the building one by one. Forced together, our characters team up and escape, forced to go into hiding.

And then, they find out that they are all being hunted down and must travel together in order to save themselves from the threat that looms over them. What is the threat, who are these people? Well we shall find out as we go along!

The setting: I think we ought to start in New York at least, (as most people are fairly familiar with the city, even those of us in other countries) and go on from there.

    Character profile
    Name: Kasia Wood
    Age: 22
    Gender: Female
Special ability(ies): Sound. Kasia can mimick any sound, most passably and some so life-like it is impossible to pick the difference. Kasia can also scream at a pitch high enough to shatter ear-drums or low enought to make people feel very ill. She can throw her voice amazingly well and can sing any song including the back-ups and instruments if she has heard the song before. She has a very good ear and exceptional hearing.
Appearance: Kasia is an attractive girl, fit and athletic with an hourglass figure. She has exotic dark skin, fine features and jet black hair that falls to her waist.
    History:
Kasia grew up in Manhattan, her father raised her with the help of a Nanny. Her mother was from the middle east and fell in love with her father who was a navy seal, his company posted there at the time. Due to the strict rules and laws of that country, her mother had to hide her pregnancy and begged Kasia's father to take her back to America and raise her. She never knew her mother. Kasia grew up in a privelidged household however it was rarely a happy one. Her father worked too much, her mother she never knew what became of her and Kasia never made friends easily due to her ability which made people uncomfortable.

Kasia and her father grew apart whilst she was a teenager and eventually she stopped talking to him altogether and moved out of home as soon as she had employment into her own apartment. She has made her own way since, neither asking for nor accepting her father's money. He has always held work as most important than anything and so they grew apart, he with his mysterious job in the Navy and Kasia discovering who she is and what she wants to be.

I'd love to, it seems like my sort of thing.. but I really can't afford to add another chance for procrastination on my part. There is so much work for me to be doing right now.

I might be able to join at a later date if it's still running.

    Good luck with it,
    Cefor.

To all those offended by my sense of humor I offer these delightful alternatives, surely appealing to even the most gossamer and pixie-like of fancies:
The Napoleon Of Notting Hill by G.K. Chesterton
Captain Stormfield's Visit To Heaven by Mark Twain
    Enjoy!

Hey! You mind if I join?

I realise that it's been awhile since I've been apart of a forum story such as this, but I was just visiting today when I saw the plot for this. Lets just say I was inspired. And forgive me for my rustiness!

I'll post my profile straight after this one. Just tell me if you don't want me, kay? I'll understand.

~Character Profile~ ((Note: I can change bits if you like))

    Name: Haylee Gray
    Age: 24
    Gender: Female
Special Ability(ies): Memory. Ironic for Haylee she has an extremely abnormal memory (Haylee suffers from Amnesia). Haylee has the ability to create photographic momories in her head This wouldn't be considered a 'special' ability because the world is already aware of the 'photographic' memory, however Haylee can not only think of a memory, she can also place it into another's mind whenever need be (i.e. it can be useful when explaining something). Not only that, but also Haylee can dig up memories fromanothers mind. She does NOT like nor make a habit out of this purely because this is physically and mentally painful for Haylee. When she finds memories that contain a large amount of emotion it would make the subject display that emotion physically (make them cry, make them angry, etc) The final thing that Haylee can do is manipulate anothers' memory. i.e. make them think that they're family i alive when they're actually dead vice versa.
Skills: Great marksman (thinks she might have been a gunnery sergant before she lost her memory); great at math, english, history and music ((unlike myself ;])) and can't sing for shit.
Appearance: Regular caucasian female, attractive (but has absolutely nothing on Elle McPherson ) Tends to wear feminine yet durable tops with stylish jeans and accessories. Her dyed black hair reaching to the middle of back is styled in various ways that co-relate to her mood.
History: Haylee suffers from Amnesia. She only recalls the past 5 weeks of her life, all of which is related to the unveiling of her identity. Haylee has only one lead, in which she must participate in a meeting with someone in New York.

    ---------------

    Hope you like it! ^o^

    Aydin Hanah

Here's my guy. Please tell me if he's a bit much.

    *****

    Name: Aydin Hanah

    Age: 20

    Gender: Male

Special Ability(ies): Manipulating shadows. Can wrap himself in shadows to hide himself or others, steal some shadow to conceal a weapon. Also can use shadows to Shadow Puppets, little mites of darkness to run errands, spy, distract, etc. Third ability of darkness is to see in the dark with just a tiny light. Weakness: sensitive to bright light.

Appearance: Aydin is an onyx-skinned male with shaggy white hair (think drow, but more human). He is short, about 5'6". Has piercing gray eyes and a lean, athletic build. He wears dark grey and black hues: black jerkin, pants; gray pants, cloak. Even on a hot day, wears the same.

History: Aydin was orphaned as a small child, and after a couple years of foster homes, abandoned them to live out life on the street. Not truly evil at heart, but he will coldly steal anything he wants or needs. Fighting for scraps against other rats has earned him more than one kill.

Aydin believes that to trust someone is to be weak and vulnerable. So throughout the years, he stayed away from making friends. He spent his days in the shadows and his nights on the streets. One day, after being wounded in a street fight, bleeding out, a Shadow Spirit found him and save him. Eravius, as the spirit is called, trained Aydin in the art of shadows, and is the only entity he can bring himself to trust.

The problem with surviving in the darkness is a sensitivity to light. But another possible risk is his total loss of sanity and humanity as he delves deeper and becomes one with the shadows...

    *****

Intriguing? I'm going to post in the forum next, tell me if my character is a bit much.
Btw... I love the Alexx character. Very nice. Haylee's memory power/problem should get interesting. As for Kasia... I'd like to see how her abiltiy is used. And where is Mr. Clayton?

    Let's roll!
