The idea of this thread is to come up with quick, short challenges. Something you can write during your coffee break at work or late at night when you haven't got the motivation to do anything more constructive.
The rules are simple:
1. The challenges should be quite specific. "Write a short romance sequence" is not. "Write a short romance sequence between a man and a duck" is. The reason for this is that this thread should ideally inspire people to write something right at that moment. Give people the tools but leave space for imagination. This leads to rule two.
2. The challenges shouldn't be too specific. If you have a great joke in mind, don't make others write it for you. "Write a scene in which a man explains why the pen is the best invention ever because it knows what your fingers want to write" doesn't give anyone a reason to actually go through writing it (plus it is a bad joke).
3. The challenges should be short. Both the description and the desired outcome.
4. Anyone can (and should) post new challenges whenever they feel like it. It would be great to come back to this thread a couple of times a day and find something new to write.
5. When you post a challenge, label it "Challenge X" where X stands for a number. When you respond to a challenge, label it "To Challenge X" so that people know what challenge you took. (Btw. for English natives: Does "To Challenge 3" sound good? Would one say that? If not, how should the labels be named?)
I know that this whole sub-forum is dedicated to challenges. The reason for the existance of this thread is that here the challenges don't need to and shouldn't be too thought of. The motto of this thread is "Quickly! Here's the keyboard and that's the setting! Now, go!" So when you feel like it, just challenge the rest of us. Try to make our imaginations run wild.

And here we go:
Challenge 1
How would a dialogue between a sarcastic alien in need of something and a medieval peasant go?
Challenge 2
A mad scientist is powering up his latest invention. It's something that would actually benefit the whole society but the angry mob doesn't quite get it.
