JSTOR research help?

Is there anyone out there who has access to any of JSTORs Arts & Sciences collections and is willing to Email me articles now and then? I'm a free lance writer working on a book that requires a lot of literary research and JSTOR is notorious for refusing membership to non-scholars. If you're not an employee or student of a college or university, and your local library doesn't have access then you're just SOL. If you're a free lance writer like me they don't even want to know you.

I'm not yet sure how many articles I will need but anyone with access to their entire Arts & Sciences collection would be a great help. I'll try not to overburden you with a list of requests. All you have to do is download them as PDF and Email them to me. So, someone with a good high speed connection would be best.

I'm not sure what I can offer in return. I certainly can't afford to pay anyone and I suspect there's someone who will do it for free. I'd be willing to proofread or critique someone's writing in return if anyone wants help along those lines.

Here’s another possibility: It’s a bit complex.

Only two days ago I wanted access to an article stored on JSTOR’s database. For the particular item I wanted: http://www.jstor.org/pss/1028801 I found the following links:
“Access options”, “Visit your local library” and “list of United States and International Institutions (for a JSTOR participating library near you.)”

I contacted my local library who, according to the JSTOR list, are a participating library. “No, we’re not” I was told when I enquired of them.

So I went direct to JSTOR and said “What gives?”

In turn, they sent me two links to get me into the local library via a proxy server and to navigate my way around the library site.

(It seems my State Library and their local branch are either too stupid or too lazy)

Perhaps if 1) you check out the list of participating institutions you may find one you can use: or 2) you contact JSTOR and tell them your tale of woe, they might come to the party. They seem to have done so for me, although I have not as yet used the links they sent me, but I live in hope.

For what it’s worth the JSTOR person who helped me is Sarah Shepherd, User Services Assistant, and she’s at support@jstor.org

All the best.

I don't think you can email JSTOR articles, nor cut and paste.

I believe you can save them as PDF and then Email the PDF file.
